Typical German engineering: square peg in round hole by way of 10 moving parts, along with some whale oil and tungsten.

I hate VW group so much. I plan on ditching the Sportwagen at 100,000km (60,000 miles)

I’ve loved my VW’s, but I understand why people hate them.

Clearly Porsche had the A2 in mind when they designed the 992.

It made some news when these were new to the US market that all
US-bound Transit Connects were manufactured as the passenger version in Turkey. The ones destined to be cargo vans went right from the port to a warehouse where the glass and seats were removed and sent to recyclers and blank panels put in over the window openings before going on to dealers
. This was cheaper for Ford that paying the Chicken Tax on commercial vehicles.

I’m curious to know what happened with it.

We had it in Europe on the Focus also (I can't remember the gen. though).

Took me a second to figure this out when I was shopping for one of these. The used car dealer also didn’t know this. ABS and CEL lights were both on. The brakes also failed as I was pulling back into the lot after the test drive. I didn’t buy it.

First time I encountered one, it took me a minute or so to figure out, as opposed to the usual ten seconds it takes to open just about any hood. Like you said, the directions are right there where you’d start looking for a handle to pop the hood.
Some of my coworkers weren’t so quick to get the hint, though. It was fun watching them try to figure it out!

Man, popping that hood is like Google pestering you with popular recommendations based on what it thinks you’re searching for .
Search: Open hood
Did you mean: Where is the oil dipstick
Search: Open hood
Did you mean: Where do you refill the washer fluid
