I remember during a promotional video for the Mütter tour (Lichtspielhaus I want to say it was called? It’s been a long time) one of them said “we wanted to call (Mütter) Herzeleid, because so many of the songs on the album were about heartbreak (Herzeleid, for those of you who don’t know, translates to that), but we’d heard a German band had already made an album with that title, and unfortunately it turned out it was us.”

Yay now I feel even older awesome thanks.

I remember being very amused at hearing Rammstein being piped in as background music in a grocery store in Berlin, this was some time ago too, old again.  A co-worker has said several times he thinks I somewhat resemble Till Lindemann - as this guy is probably no older than 30 or so, I was impressed.

Amazon video has a full live set performance in Paris 2017. Hell of a show, including the infamous Buck Dich performance.

Rammstein is still very much active. So, it’s not overly odd that younger people are familiar with them.

Moreover, someone who is 30 might has been listening to music for 2 decades.

Active, but I think on this side of the pond, they peaked in the 1998-2000 era.   Of course, younger people can enjoy music from before their time, so to speak.
