My aunt Shirley has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s going in for a double mastectomy on Saturday, but has told the doctors ‘no antibiotics’. She’s a medical disaster, always has been, had all sorts of reactions to them in the past. The doctors say that there’s a 95% chance of complications with this approach, and given her history with regards to medical problems she’ll definitely have plenty of them.
My unemployment benefits have been extended for another 10 weeks, but per the US Dept of Labor, payments are supposed to be cut by 2.95% per week. I’ve been looking for work, week after week, but being middle aged and not willing to work for poverty wages makes it tough to find work. What good is making me homeless going to do? At least I’ll be able to get a free crappy medical plan from the city if I don’t have any money...
And I forgot to make a credit card payment, so now I’ve got a late fee, and it’s probably bigger than the payment. Fuck.

Definitely not our best year.
Sorry to hear all of that. I lost my youngest sister to breast cancer a few years ago; I’m glad your aunt is tackling it aggressively.

I had a family member preemtively have that done due to a high risk from family history. It is a mess, and a big risk of infection is due to the drains . Hope things go well.

I had two family members diagnosed with cancer about a month ago. Rough dude. Not allowed to visit them either, nobody is. Similarly, an aunty who got a (single) mastectomy.

Really sorry mate, for all of it.
But reducing your benefits by 2.95% each week, bloody hell. How is that even legal. In the U.K. and Europe that would be illegal. Granted here we have change of circumstances which would mean a different amount being paid to you but certain benefits can’t be touched unless your found to be committing benefit fraud, etc...
I hope things get better f or both you and your aunt.

This is why, although I’m sure the republicans would be all in favor of this kind of screwing over the populace even if Dolt 45 wasn’t in office. I’m no longer a professional, but now just expendable wage slave, a tool to be used and tossed aside the moment I break.

Good luck to you and your Aunt. A family member went through breast cancer a few years ago...the prognosis is much better than 20 years ago.

C rummy part is, I think, your Bennie s reduce by what you make at the crap new job....so your working for the same cash, and have less time to job hunt. I sent out 135 resumes in 2003. 5 calls, 3 interviews.

Fuck, that is terrible news about your aunt.
Call the credit card company and ask them very nicely to take the fee off. I’ve had success with this before.
If it doesn’t work, call again and speak to another agent.
