I remember in the early 90s a black dude called this in to the local classic rock radio station (yes I’m old) and said “ play some peace frog cause that’s the funkiest song a white man ever wrote”

Everytime I hear this I'm reminded of that day.

This is such a killer tune that is relatively unknown.  Morrison Hotel is their best album (I put it slightly above LA Woman).

It was a great band at the time. I listened to The Doors endlessly in the 80s, but I fear the last 40 years have not been kind.
