Remember the beautiful carbon brace on the F82 M cars? Well, it’s gone, and replaced with a less aesthetically pleasing metal isosceles triangle. At first glance it looks like a more functional brace given it’s directly connected across the strut towers, rather the U shaped brace.
I must say though, the bizarre grilles together with the more aggressive design all-round are starting to make some sense to me, as much as I still think it’s not particularly dignified, it might be one of the few cars that looks better with a license plate than without one.

I won’t shame anyone for looking at engine bays. I just don’t understand the appeal, or the attempts to dress them up with embossed covers or whatever. To me, it’s just the mechanicals that make the power. It’s impressive for its engineering, but not visually pleasing in the same way that the visceral organs are triumphs of physiology, but I still don’t want to look at them .

Hemholtz resonators, sound insulating covers, and turbos, it’s like the Germans have forgotten their symphonic pasts in favor of the Camry buyer.

It isn’t a big deal; I agree. It’s just that it seems like BMW just made fewer efforts on this generation than the past, and it weirdly shows everywhere...

Hey, nothing wrong with helmholtz resonators. That’s basically all the exhaust on my Miata is and it is glorious and loud. Except when I don’t want it to be, then it’s quiet. Ish.

Resonators on the intakes are sad

On the intakes? Oh, that's awful.

My 2006 A4 TDI even had insulation on the air box (and it was going to pieces), I removed it and it’s still not especially audible unfortunately (there is still some kind of muffler grille just before the turbo... where the PCV is venting oil ) :

that seems like a terrible location for a foam that will degrade with heat

As if it couldn’t get any worse aesthetically... I’m gonna go hug my F82 lol

Idk, I think the F8X carbon brace was weird looking. It looks more aesthetic and less functional.
This new one not as shiney looks way more functional, but I will admit, gives a hint of after thought which isn’t so good.
