Whoever invented two-piece lug nuts can go fuck themselves. Wi th a cactus.
That is all. You may return to your regularly scheduled car stuff.

They are awful. As soon as I discovered that mine were (of course, that discovery meant I was SOL when trying to remove a wheel) I had all of them replaced.

Yeah I don’t get the point of them. This stupid idea caused me to replace all the lug nuts on one or two of my previous vehicles

Working on a Jeep by any chance? I had to get real creative getting them off my Jeep when they decided to start separating.

Same. I had to have my mechanic use a twist bit to pull them off, and then replaced them all with normal lugs.

Thank you for reminding me- last time I had my wheels off, I found that some of the lug nuts were swelling up. I swore to get some one-piece lug nuts for next time, but I never got around to putting that order in. Well, there’s no time like the present!

Yes.

Not really an issue if you use anti-seize and torque to spec. I had to replace one after nine years on our Grand Caravan, the chrome cover split and came off.

Yup, those suck.
A friend had a Wrangler with a flat he couldn’t get off because a swelled, split lug. I ended u p hammering on an undersized tire iron at 9 at night in 10 below weather.
Th ey’re the worst kind of corner cutting.

Nope, still an issue when moisture gets in, regardless of proper torque or antiseize

Same goes with chrome clad lugs

Well, my experience with them has been different than yours.

Studs are also the devil’s work. All cars should have hardened lug bolts

Do you not live above the rust belt?

I had the Grand Caravan while in California. I live in Maine now, where good cars go to die.
