Washed the neighbour’s VW Eos, then thought I’d wash down Sandy.
I lost quite a bit of weight, the new slimmer me, can you tell I like Gtechniq (I only put the Gtechniq mask on for the photo).

Did they include that mask with a purchase? That's pretty funny. Nice clean cars too. The Eos must have been a quicker clean as they do not have many places for dirt to go in the first place.

Looking good! I washed our two primary cars last weekend. Even an older car look much happier when shined up. My datsun that is 100% garage kept gets amazingly dirty from just an hour or two of driving a week. I need to find some better tar remover than goo-gone. There are still road-tar spots on the rocker panels I can’t get off the paint.

Thanks, she hasn’t been washed in four months, as I’ve been ill for three of them, but any rain washes any dirt or bird bombs off.

That’s not too bad for a branded mask but maybe not as cheap as I’d expect.
Good job losing weight. It’s tough but such a small thing can result in noticeable improvements in how you feel mentally as well as physically.
I’ve ridden in an Eos a few times and it has a few storage compartments but not much physical real estate. Is there any special way you clean a convertible?

The masks will be more expensive as they are love production but also treated with an anti-virus coating with silver, etc...
The Weight loss was probably down in part to nearly two months of S&D on top of a low carb (50-90carbs a day, leaning mostly to 50).
The hard top is easier to look after than a fabric hard top but principly the same is seeing to use an anti-microbial cleaner in the joints and rubbers then treating the rubbers with a restorer/protectant such an Einszett Gummi Pflege Shift. It restores the rubbers supple-ness and prevents the rubbers drying out and so keeping water out but also stops doors and joins from freezing (like when a pillarless door glass freezes in place as you try to open the door and you either damage the window motor, damage the door handle, etc...).

Try looking for a product such as Auto-Finesse ObliTARate, it’s my got to. There is also CarPro Tar-X, it’s a green liquid, spray on and on black cars it shows up so you can see where to wipe to clear ir.
They both dissolve the tar so you can gently wipe it off. For more stubborn bits simply spray a the product on and then place a bit of kitchen towel/tissue over the area and spray more product and allow to dwell, don't let it (or any product) dry on a car, as it may damage the clearcote or at best require a light polishing to remove.

That sounds awful. I’ve never heard of that happening before.
I actually have never treated the rubbers on my car. I should do that. My dad drove it up yesterday to see me and it was looking pretty dirty but I can’t do anything about it. We’ve had lots of rain so it was covered in road grime.

Ye’, as rubbers age and dry out, water can soak into them, so when water freezes between the glass and rubber it can cement the glass in place.
Simply clean the rubbers with an all purpose cleaner, wipe and dry. Apply the product by squeezing the bottle and pushing the sponge gently into the rubber and run around the rubbers, gently wipe off any excess product and job done.
Treating the window rubbers and door seals with stop them drying out and add UV protection fron sun damage. It'll stop them cracking and keep out water.

It’s too late for the roof panel rubber joint but I should definitely look into that. I’m not sure how much sun those interior door jams really get but keeping them from cracking is good.

Door jam rubbers dry out from age and water sitting on them, exterior rubbers such as window rubbers, dry out and suffer from UV damage. Protection and prevention is key.
Saves a lot of time, money and inconvenience down the line.

I wish the previous owner had done that to the roof panel rubber join as it was too late when I got it. It’s very dry and cracked and also the plastic chrome trim is roasted. The trunk to rear window rubber seal is also pretty bad. I think I actually have tried restoring those before but I’ve never had any luck. The only place I’ve had much improvement is in the plastics.

I have two BMWs, a Land Rover, and a Spitfire that desperately need some cleaning attention that I am not giving them.

She’s a re-bodied Passat (Euro Passat, not NMS).
She’s a 6 speed manual, 1.4TSi ACT petrol, 148bhp, more spacious inside than the Passat, nice practical features.

The 1.4TSi we had in the Superb Mk2 estate was 124bhp, wasn’t underpowered.
But the ACT engine delivers 148bhp, using 2 cylinders at low speed (around town) and all 4 cylinders when needed (at speed, under heavily acceleration, etc... so we get 50mpg around town and 50mpg on the motorway. She’s smooth and very quiet, also cheaper than the VW sister by £2,000 to £3,500.

Nice! Sadly most of my fellow Americans would turn up their noses at such a thing, both the style and the power level - I agree that is perfectly fine in a non-sporting car . And in a sporting one if it’s small enough! I’ve driven American Jettas with our version of the 1.4TSi and think it is pretty great, but we don’t get the cylinder deactivation here .
I love my ‘11 328i estate (3.0l, 230hp, 6spd) , but it’s only about half as efficient while being a LOT less spacious.

Ye’, I’ve never understood the whole, ‘needs to be RWD’, ‘needs more power’, ‘needs a V8 swap’, etc... then ask them about their work commute, and they say, they drive an auto because driving a manual in stop start traffic is tiring on the legs and sometimes get up to only 30mph, with much of the U.S. having a 55mph speed limit. Where do they need this 600bhp, 8litre V8?
Here and mainland Europe, cars need to be functional, practice, efficient, etc... the road tax (vehicle excise duty) is based on emissions (an Aston Martin can cost £1,000 a year, while Sandy is £25), f uel is expensive, so is insurance for many places, some areas have Congestion Charges, with higher prices for cars with higher emissions, parking is at a premium so vehicles need to be as small as can be while still being suitable for your needs, etc...meaning people buy the vehicle they needs (yes you can still get some performance vehicles and some very good looking while still being able to do what you need, take the Skoda Octavia, liftback or estate, you can get a frugal 108bhp, 1.0TSi, but you can get a 242bhp, 2.0TSi vRS).
Sandy will sit at 80mph all day if asked, if I drop a gear and floor the accelerator, she will rapidly overtake a car, otherwise, she’ll simply glide past on motorways.
The 2011 BMW 328 is a good car, you feel like your going at speed even when your sitting at 40mph. The kick down when overtaking will firmly seat you in the back of the chair. The latest BMW's do nothing for me, uT the likes of the E30s, E36s, E46s and F30s are lovely designs.
