Kinja'd!!!

A little cleaning and perhaps some application of the heat gun and I should be able to get it back into shape. The internal divider, assuming there was one, is missing, but I should be able to recreate one if need be.

I remember 1975. And I had all three of those vehicles back then.

I had a hotwheels case when I was a kid. I think it held 24 cars, and was double sided.

YES! For some reason, the black flame “Vandura” was very aesthetically pleasing to play with for some reason for me.  Also the MiniHAHA.

I think my older brother had the truck at the bottom.

Who would want a collector’s case when you could have a SUPER RALLY CASE:

Kinja'd!!!

Admittedly, this case has always sort of sucked, has triangular slots for cars that hold them somewhat awkwardly.

It feels very familiar to me as well, though I don’t think it’s among the cars I rescued when my parents downsized and got rid of most of my old toys.

I had the paramedic truck. It was one of my favorites, probably because we were watching Emergency ! at the time.

I had the 24 c ar collector case ! Mine had white plastic trays for storing the cars. I realized that I could double-up cars in each slot, turning that 24 -car case into a 48 -car case. I carried that thing everywhere.

I had the Matchbox version of that case, with two light blue inserts. A quick look on Ebay shows this cover that looks similar to the one I had , thought I’m not sure if it’s the one. I am probably confusing it with the R/C Porsche I also had.

I am closing all browser windows now to avoid multiple Ebay purchase. Good night!

The end of the redline era, some of those late run cars are quite valuable now.

I had that case too. I still have the MB race car, the green car to the right, a couple of the petrol  trucks, the Mercedes and a few of the others.

I had that one back in the day. For some reason, besides the triangular spots, I didn’t like it as much as the rectangular cases; the rectangular ones reminded me of luggage or dad’s briefcase, and seemed less toy-like.

Same here. It seemed more realistic than other Hot Wheels since it appeared to be a Dodge, or as close as they dare got, just like Roy and Johnny drove.

As a kid I got excited when passing the Mattel building off the 405 at Rosecrans, not because it was Mattel but because this was the last bend in the freeway before we hit LAX, meaning I’d soon be at the airport watching the big jets, like 747s and L-1011s and not the little stuff like at my local airport down in OC.

30 years later I’d be working at that same, albeit rebuilt, terminal. I started at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) and then moved to T2, the original international terminal, when we closed our TBIT office. And those Hughes Aircraft buildings on the south side of LAX? I worked at most of those throughout the ‘90s...
