Trx more dino than Raptor?

Kinja'd!!!

I wrote a thing.

Personally I think that Ram did more work than they needed to here. They could have just put the engine in it and put on 35's and they would have sold just as many at just as high a price and people would have snapped it up.

I got a Rebel which I thought was cool, but next to the TRX, oh man it might as well be a hatch back.

I agree, if they went with a 6.4L with maybe 500 hp or so, that would have been plenty.

But now they forced Ford to bring out the 5.2L V8 with 725 hp or so, so that’s awesome. Chevy is likely coming out with a ZR2 like model in Silverado, but from what I hear, it won’t be part of the penis measuring contest between Ford & RAM, likely will have a regular 6.2L NA V8.

I hope they come out with a regular engined TRX, but with the same looks and suspension, at a lower price point that maybe I could possibly afford.  Be very happy with that.

Given GM’s performance plan of late, it will be a trail boss with a little more suspension.

They’re both good trucks

Lol, that’s my guess. I looked at the trail boss too before my Rebel, which turns out to be a trim package that can be added to any model, unlike it’s own model. T he suspension is just a 2" spacer,  32" Duratrac tires & limited- slip type locker instead of a true e-locker.

The RAM actually bothered to use off-road springs, Bilstein off-road shocks with external reservoirs, 33" Duratracs and a true selectable e-locker.

Though considering what they have done with the ZR2, there maybe hope with the Silverado, maybe.

I think something is broken here.

“ The Ram system, however, is tuned to act RWD when desired with as little as 25% of torque going to the front axle in some drive modes and, claim RAM, not having a 2WD mode is not an asset, but a liability on the TRX. Again, we are on the same page there. ”

And I just want a Colorado ZR2 with an LT1 and a manual

Could be clearer.

The Ram system is tuned to act like RWD when desired with as little as 25% of torque going to the front axle in some drive modes. Ram claims a 2WD mode is not an asset, but a liability on the TRX. Again, we are on the same page there.

RAM is claiming a lack of 2wd is a liability for their own truck?

More or less. They say that 4wd is necessary with this much HP

Right, but that means a lack of 2wd is an asset , not a liability.

(Or that 2wd would be a liability, but that’s the opposite of what you wrote.)

Actually I just took out anything about a liability. It was just bad wording. Good feedback here. Now it simply says.

“RAM says that 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque needs AWD, and I’m inclined to agree, though it can be tuned to act like RWD when desired with as little as 25% of torque going to the front axle in some drive modes.”

Yeah. The double negative in the original text broke the meaning.

The transfer case is an interesting point. There’s videos on the internet that show the regular-jagoff version of the Ram “locked” in 4wd in a high-differential traction situation, but only one axle spinning. Think front wheels on pavement, back wheels on ice. Even if they are beefed up, I can’t imagine the clutches will last long, especially when driven like a moran.

I betcha that people start breaking driveline parts in the first month or two from doing dumb shit with them, even with whatever electronics are built in to prevent that.
