I’ve only lived here two years so not clear what is normal but this seems nuts ?
![]() 09/05/2020 at 13:59 |

Where is that? Insane! I’ve seen 40+ degree shifts in a day, but never 90 to snow
![]() 09/05/2020 at 13:59 |

68-degree swing in 48 hours, not bad not bad.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 13:59 |

We’re getting a chance of snow a little south of you here in NM too. Not as crazy of a temp swing for us... going 87 to 32. It’s a little early but that’s mountain life. September/October and April/May in NM and CO could be 20 or 100 degrees depending on which way the wind decides to blow.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:04 |

Welcome to Colorado! It’s somewhat normal to have a swing like that a couple of times per year, although this one is a bit more extreme.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:08 |

It’s a bit off-season but not out of the question. I feel like we usually get the 80s to 20s with snow fluctuations in the spring.
But yeah. Snow accumulations this time of year are unusual.

We have the same forecast up here in Calgary. Hot as Hades today, tomorrow night possible snow
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:18 |

76-degree by my count (high S unday to low Tuesday) , though potentially across as much as 72 hours.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:20 |

91 to 36? That’s nuts.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:30 |

yeah, I was impressed.
I’m in Loveland, CO but the entire Front Range has this forecast.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:30 |

I feel like I should be awarded a prize.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 14:33 |

I’m not even in the mountains. Next to them
in Loveland. yeah, starting to learn about that spring/fall extremes.
Coming from Milwaukee, there’s so many different things to know about the
climate and dramatic changes in
the mountains.

Snow!
![]() 09/05/2020 at 15:04 |

No, for Phoenix, that is not normal. Nor for San Francisco. But for Mars? Perhaps.
Where do you live? (You may have told me this before; apologies if so.)

Two words:
![]() 09/05/2020 at 15:26 |

Yeah, I used a temperature forecast map to figure out where that cold front was coming from for Denver, and of course it was barreling through Canada.
It’s been a very cool summer here. Only been able to drop the windshield once. If I wanted this summer weather I’d move to Canada.

I win!
![]() 09/05/2020 at 16:11 |

ah, @just jeep says, of course, it’s Canadians who are responsible.

Thanks for letting me know who to blame.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 16:12 |

ok, quite a lot to get used to here.

Loveland, CO between Ft Collins and Boulder
. Colorado Oppos are letting me know while this is unusual
, spring/fall weather here is quite variable.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 16:13 |

I’m recalibrating.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 16:14 |

Haven’t paid attention.
Is 2020
an El Nino year
?
![]() 09/05/2020 at 16:17 |

I like the 99 Sun high to 23
Wed low (
78 deg drop over 66hrs!
)
for maximum
internet
points
.

I’m sure they’re very sorry.

Since the Canadians can’t cross the border to shop at Costco this year they are sending their shit weather.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 17:39 |

Du nno, but i t’s always a Chris Farley year!

What the metric fuck
![]() 09/05/2020 at 18:51 |

For your side of the Pacific...it's looking that way.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 18:56 |

Do you know the film The Horse Whisperer ? That was filmed in Colorado. I drove through Pueblo once and I hear there’s some famous canyon in Colorado. And there’s “Mile High” some’m some’m and Aspen. There; I think that’s everything I know about Colorado except that a really friendly medical-type oppo of my acquaintance lives there.

Im guessing the temp is greatly affected by the jet stream. When it moves north, you’re getting hot air from the south... and when it moves south, you’re getting air from the North.
And that isn’t El Niño, that’s global warming that’s causing bigger shifts in the polar vortex
![]() 09/05/2020 at 22:57 |
|
Heard of the movie. I’ve pretty much stuck between Boulder and Fort Collins and the adjacent mountains. I haven’t even been to Denver other than driving through on the freeways. I think I know about as much about the rest of Colorado as you do.
aw shucks! (kicking a stone while looking down with hands in pockets
) Free free to drop by if you’re ever visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. I live just down the canyon.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 22:58 |
|
oh yeah, now I’m remembering those curves of the jet stream due to El Nino and/or La Nina or something or other. Those Arctic thingies that drop Canadian air made living in Milwaukee miserable.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 23:00 |
|
yup, now
I remember those polar vortices. Made Milwaukee winters miserable. So far, I like
Colorado climate better. G
lobal warming may change that opinion.

What? Canadians don’t have stores on their side of the wall?
![]() 09/05/2020 at 23:02 |
|
yah, I was impressed. 99 to 23 degrees over 66 hours.
![]() 09/05/2020 at 23:40 |
|
I mean, a 40 degree drop in a 24 hour span
isn’t unheard of around here
, but that continuing on
for a 76 degree drop in one go
is outrageous.

Even if as a relative perspective you are not in the mountains, it’s still higher than the highest point of many countries like UK for example.
E levation itself plays a great role, plus the fact that there are high mountains next to the city and no sea/ocean or even big lake around also plays on the climate .

There is no sales tax in Montana and certain items cost much less. Alcohol for example, and TV’s etc...
