In a prior post I asked for help in understanding how my brother in law’s wood lathe chuck was mounted. To recap it was inherited from the previous home owner and it was wobbling. Here is what he had.
We were guessing the chuck was on an internal taper and we were wrong....
This is the other end. Apparently the prior owner really liked the chuck and cobbled this together. No wonder it wobbled......

And here we were all thinking a lathe was to make round things.

Oh god.
I would recommend getting a backing plate with the correct thread to attach to the spindle nose...

Yep, he’s just going to get a correct chuck. PS he’s had this lathe for over 20 years.....

I’m assuming he’s never done anything in it which required even a modicum of precision or accuracy

This one’s for making eccentrics - great if you need wooden camshafts!

Would you describe the previous owner as eccentric?

Maybe the PO was just using it for staining or polishing
