I’m sitting at a light at a big intersection, listening to the 90s SiriusXM station (I think Ace of Base w as on), and this appears across from me. Zoidberg needs this to go with that red Paseo convertible lurking not too far from where he lives. Also, leave the plate and Hello Kitty sticker just for kicks.

The 3 spoke wheels give it that extra something

I can admit without shame that they are perfect for this application, and I like them.

What do I part with? I have plans to redo the garage to double the capacity, but I’ll die before I ever have that money.

The Pontiac Corolla can sleep outside. Just add some carports, it’s not too hard if you don’t bother with permits.

The Corolla does sleep outside — garage is 2, and by 2, I mean 2 somewhat small Japanese cars.

Add a couple of carports somewhere? Get a HELOC? Of course the pickup has to sleep inside, like with my old car, one winter outside would probably push it to the edge.

And in other news, I think the demise of Oppo is not too distant. I think the front page is harming our community by hiding contributors names. It will break down the sense of community and people will drift away.

Do you think the justices ever roll their eyes when they see some of those names? I have a good friend who rolls to the right of me, who is an attorney, and did a bunch of work for Edwin Meese. Knows him personally, in fact. This woman has been at the table, on the team, during oral arguments at the SCOTUS. She speaks of Mr. Meese . I regard this woman highly and she is excited at the prospect of Amy Coney Barrett being appointed. I’d certainly much prefer Judge Barrett over Judge Cruz.
![]() 09/19/2020 at 18:02 |

Barrett is more palatable than any of the flamboyant cult members like Cruz, anyway. I just recall reading that she might not be a fan of RvW, due to her old school Catholic dogma - if that gets overturned, the US will have made a strong step backwards and towards repression.
![]() 09/19/2020 at 18:34 |
|
My same friend opines the RvW was deeply flawed and so was Justice O’Connor. Then again... My friend, I was never really able to pin her down. I could easily ascribe her to a category of conservatives that really doesn’t welcome thoughtful, intellectual questioning. For example: “Identity politics is bad, but I think picking a woman for SCOTUS is good.” I don’t want to say hypocrisy , but I’m looking for another way to suggest it; double-standard, perhaps?

“ a category of conservatives that really doesn’t welcome thoughtful, intellectual questioning”
Let me guess, she also likes Victor Davis Hanso n.
RvW is one of the things that keeps the US somewhat on par with more developed nations.

I don’t know her opinion of VDH. I would guess she’d never heard of him.

Sounds like they’d get along, though.
I can understand and respect the basis behind differing viewpoints, but I also have pretty liberal views when it comes to the legislation. But that’s just my experience, I grew up in a very agnostic household, my mom not wanting to continue her old school Catholic upbringing.

Yep I run into him, sometimes he’s decent, sometimes he’s a cultist. He has a doppel ganger named Merkin Muffley. He might have had that name before, yes. Seems like an intelligent guy, but some misguided stances, I suspect to preserve personal wealth.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 09:57 |

He does this passive-aggressive thing where he throws in ad hominem digs and then goes away. Little insults, baseless, then ghosts the thread. I am going to begin ignoring him completely. I've noticed in recent months that many buttholes have moved on.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 12:34 |

Two options - ignore him, or give him a taste of his own medicine. Being civil won’t work with the cult. I call him out and dish it right back.
My guess is he’s another one who is gravely afraid of having slightly less personal net worth that was created in some part due to lucky timing - heaven forbid these people pay it forward into the system that enabled their good fortune.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 18:22 |

Yeah. We’ll see what happens. You give him back something thoughtful or that runs counter to what he’s putting out, and he just ghosts.

I appreciate the response. I see that in this case he did not, in fact, ghost me, and I replied. I also see that you weighed in over there.
I always appreciate my correspondence with you. Have you seen the 2008 film Defiance ? Daniel Craig, Liev Schriber... It is a truly remarkable film about Jewish resistance during WWII in Belarus. The film at its kernel is about the tension between two brothers, one, Luvia Bielski, a reluctant — but extremely effective — warrior, the other, Zus Bielski, the hard charging warrior. I’d liken them to me, and you, respectively. An objective viewing of the film does not say that one of them is more important than the other; both are necessary. Daniel Craig plays Luvia and kills when he needs to, but is generally more interested in peaceful survival. Tremendous film and I invite you to view it and tell me what you think.
I’ve mentioned to you a correspondence I shared with several years with an old guy in Tennessee. For three years he goaded me and I kept it classy. Finally, I pushed back and I think it was very effective, and he turned and became vicious and I just stopped corresponding with him.
FWIW.
Thanks again for the correspondence.

I look at that as victory - if my last reply was something at least pretending to be substantive rather than insults (which I freely admit I dish out, too). Ghost me after I throw data at someone, I win.

My pleasure. I wish some of our candidates could realize the same - fight fire with fire, so to speak. It will eventually make the bullies recoil - I suspect if Biden had dared to really raise his voice against 45 and call out 45's objectively terrible children, things would have been different.
Never seen the film, but the name rings a bell, I’ll have to look it up sometime (I am in the middle of a move now). I like WW2-themed material, so it could be relevant to me. Sad to think this is maybe the most in the past 75 years when a story about someone fighting fascists might be relatable . And just like ~90 years ago, plenty will support that side in simple hopes of personal gain.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 19:33 |

Oh, absolutely. If they go ad hominem , that’s an outright surrender.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 19:36 |

Biden did try to stand up when Trump was attacking his family, but nobody can beat Trump at that game. Nobody can. And when Biden uttered Kelly Ann Conway’s name, that was a body blow not just to Trump but to his entire ilk. Biden could have asked Wallace to turn off Trump’s mic or pointed out how desperate and cornered Trump -- or anyone -- would have to be to resort to the tactics he was using that night. And should Trump decide to shift gears and not use the vicious bully mode, he will suffer a quick defeat. What I wonder is what if Biden simply refused to participate in the next show?
![]() 10/01/2020 at 23:18 |

Definitely if the data is not factual. However, if one is of a certain clueless greedy demographic, I’ll definitely use their background against them.
![]() 10/01/2020 at 23:21 |

Biden needed to raise his voice more. He’s soft spoken compared to 45, and needs to speak up. He tried to get a word in, but lacked volume. Hell, Biden should have mentioned Stormy Daniels, the wife here under questionable visa circumstances, the worthless deplorable kids, etc . I hope Biden doesn’t refuse - rather, he has a debate coach who isn’t afraid to not be “civil” now and then.
The “stand back, stand by” line sums up 45, the man and his regime.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Not going to wish physical harm - bad mojo, but if it came to that, there’d be plenty of irony.
But really, I have some doubt he’s really positive at all. He and his handlers could use something like this to spin something up. Just like the tax returns, show me independent third party test results, not from one of his likely coked-up “doctors”.
![]() 10/02/2020 at 13:33 |

There’s that; I thought of it when first I heard the news. He’ll come out of it extolling the virtues of hydroxychloroquine and glow-in-the-dark suppositories and vaping Lysol.
I wouldn’t wish it on him, but I am probably not too good for a bit of Schadenfreude ...
![]() 10/02/2020 at 13:56 |

I wonder if there’s a “ supplement” maker, as the cult seems to be into that too, who will profit from this when it’s over. As I have serious doubts he’s positive at all - when a pathological compulsive liar comes up with something like this, everyone should be wary.
Yeah, I won’t cry if things go wrong, but this isn’t how I want him to go - prison would be nicer.
![]() 10/02/2020 at 18:49 |

No kidding. I am curious to see how many in the palace wind up infected. I’m also curious to see if they contact trace who actually brought the virus into the fold.
All these leaks. Everything they say officially is a fabrication, so why not believe the leaks?
He needs to not get too awfully sick so that he can be around to lose the election and then be hounded by banks and lawyers for his remaining years of life . And his spawn forever dogged by Secret Service. And maybe some of them hounded by lawsuits as well. I won’t wish COVID on any of them, but the rest? Definitely.
![]() 10/02/2020 at 21:45 |

I’m not 100% sold on him being infected at all. This could be a big masquerade with an ulterior motive. If it was anyone else, I wouldn’t be suspicious, but this man is a conman and a habitual liar - I don’t know what he might be aiming for.
And yeah, I don’t wish him death or anything close. Apart from just being bad mojo, I don’t want this to let him escape from everything he’s done. After this shitshow is finally over, I’d like to see the whole gang have it hanging over their heads forever.

And now Chris Christie. That man’s association with Donald Trump has been nothing but bad for him. Now don’t judge me, but I kind of like Chris Christie. Doesn’t mean I’d vote for him for anything...
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:44 |

I think Christie is a major league asshole, but I can see how one might feel bad for him in a schadenfreude way . He’s been pretty subservient to this regime , but kept out of the inner circle because he spearheaded the prosecution against Kushner’s criminal crooked conman daddy (who along with his son should live out his days in a federal pen).
Still not convinced any of these people have it, either.

POTUS in residence at Walter Reed would be a difficult thing to fake.
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:48 |

I dunno, all he needs is one of his well-connected doctors to fill out some paperwork.
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:48 |

So the Kushner/Christie connection is a bonus, in that I can’t image Jared’s ever much pleased to see Chris.
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:49 |

I’m 100% convinced the Kushner connection is the sole reason Christie hasn’t been able to ascend in this regime. Christie otherwise is exactly like the rest of them.
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:49 |

Or a less-well-connected doctor or nurse or orderly to spill the beans.

Who knows what might make the news tomorrow.
I’d want to see an independent credible third party confirm it (just like with his taxes and finances).
![]() 10/03/2020 at 18:55 |

Oh, like the New York Times is credible?
Question: why would they be faking it?
![]() 10/03/2020 at 19:15 |

I look at the author more than the outlet.
At the very least, I see a “I beat it, it’s not so bad, open up America” angle to be had, along with an “I’m so strong I can beat anything, vote for me” ploy.
![]() 10/03/2020 at 19:19 |

The latter, you know we’re going to hear if he survives, which I very much hope he does. More likely is that he is extremely sick and we are not being told.
