And they’re still stomping on everybody else in F1.

50% thermal efficiency?! Thats bonkers so crazy for a piston engine.

If I read the article correctly, they’re making 1,000 horsepower with 1.6 litres of displacement and making three of these engines last an entire season.

And a thousand horsepower from 1.6 litres of displacement and making three of these engines last an entire season. For my money, that’s THREE separate bonkers.

It’s enough to make me take up an interest.

Driving that beast might be almost as close as a person could get to landing an F-18 on an aircraft carrier in pitching deck conditions.
Question: there’s a word that the Navy uses for iterations, or instances, or dispensations or versions of a mission or sortie. It’s like generation or something. Do you know what I am talking about?

That sounds about right. There is also a battery system that gives extra power.

I think the term is evolution, but you should ask this guy . He’s rides in the backseat of an F/A-18G Growler and takes pictures .
TBH, the racing in F1 isn’t the most exciting, since Merc has such a huge technological gap on the field that they are winning every race (just about). But it was the tech that got me interested, and it’s the tech that, I think, keeps most people interested.

Yes, evolution . Didn’t know about Growler, but I am definitely aware of that Op and his green three-wheeled car.

I reached out to him a year or so ago about maybe doing an interview. Never did follow up, though.
