I had no idea there was ever a Saleen package for an Explorer, but this nice green on popped up on the Obscure Cars For Sale FB Page. I kinda dig it. Sadly there seems to be no real performance mods, just appearance, interior, and suspension.

As much as I like It, I’m gonna say CP on the price. Altho if you have a deeply rooted nostalgia for Green late 90s Explorers, I guess this would be the one to have.

We had a green 96 Explorer with the 5.0/AWD combo (non-Saleen) as the family truckster I learned to drive on. The cast iron hot heads and intake manifolds explorers got became the worst kept junkyard speed secret long ago, but that was a lively drivetrain combo for the time, especially for as light as those trucks were.

Oh yeah these were a thing. I saw one on a trailer on the highway a few months back. Unfortunately no pic, but it was white on white on white. If you want to win radwood though, not the worst choice

You could get it in 6 cylinder flavor as well

IIRC white on white (on white) was a big Saleen SP8 color scheme back in the day, motivated by the time period no doubt

A s I recall, most of these were white, with white wheels. The V8 was available with RWD or AWD, and of course came with Ford’s 302. I do think they had a factory-option supercharger available as well. Kind of a bummer, but this one doesn’t have the optional Recaro seats.
There’s also a more rare (but slower) version that came with the Cologne 4.0 V6.
Pretty rare, but I don’t think I’d be in the market for one anywhere near that price.

I wish they built these in the 2 door configuration. Sorta a GMC Typhoon fighter.

But it did inspire the Shelby SP 360 Dodge Durango.
