So like I imagine a lot of Oppo I’m a They Might Be Giants fan, it was mostly their pre-00 stuff as they fell off my radar. I found myself recently wandering around their newer stuff on Youtube and there are some gems and some that are just genuinely strange. Here are a few I wanted to share.

I just love this one! It also reminds me how far we’ve come in the consumption of music in a very short time. This was 2013 and she’s using an iPod. Outside myself I haven’t seen someone using one in a long time.

This one has Nick Offerman and a Nick Offerman Voodoo Doll

I quite liked the futility of this one, to defeat death in a ping ping match only to be sent back to fight him again immediately.

This one is just fun since it involves large scale cardboard art

This is an older song and not that interesting a video but I love the song so much.

There’s a lot more on their channel - take a lap through there and find some strangeness and enjoy it!

Big TMBG fan. Seen them live a few times. Highly recommend. My kids are almost old enough to take them to an adult show. Really hope I get that chance. Some of their newer stuff is great. I do seem to enjoy 40% of it compared to 80% of their older stuff. Not sure if that is because I am old ..

I would say they’ve definitely gotten more experimental recently which definitely creates more misses than before. Some are just strange but others are excellent!

Never seen them live, but if concerts ever become a thing again I’ll definitely keep my eyes open for them.

That’s true, but so much of what was strange they did in the 90's is a lot more common now so it feels normal thus they push further.

I’d watch your proposal of a movie there. If the parts of that clip that aren’t her eating an onion like an apple are anything like the rest of the movie I’ll skip it.

I do echo your sentiment about not liking their current stuff as much. They’ve been installing and servicing melodies since 1 982. I'm thinking it might be time to retire.

Their kids stuff is fantastic. I love their incorrect version of The Sun, and in love the fact they made a more scientifically correct version later
