I think it’s time to move on to something different. Planning on taking some pictures and listing it online and seeing if I get any serious interest.

Sadly I’m not in a place to be buying. I’ve always really liked the 3 series coupe of that gen though. Good look with the sale. It’s a good time to be selling a car.

I think it looks fantastic with the M-Sport bumpers. I had it for 3.5 years now and I just sort of want something different and a little newer with the ability to connect to my phone.

End of an era. I thought you might own 3 before you went down to one. LOL

Yeah, it’s not even listed yet, so I might change my mind. I’m just worried that a lot of expensive repairs are around the corner and I want something different. It need brakes soon, maybe a water pump, not sure how long the clutch has, etc. I really do like the car, but I think it might be time for something else.

I think I will regret having a bluetooth enabled car for my first one which, even though my budget will be increasing when I go car shopping around the end of the year, will almost certainly mean I won’t getting such modern luxuries again. I’m now thoroughly spoiled.

Also, I don’t think I could ever own a silver car - I just harbor an irrational hatred for the color outside of some Astons - though I’ll admit your 3 does pull it off better than most. How much do you think you’ll be asking initially? I still don’t think I can afford a BMW on the bottom end of its depreciation curve.

Honestly, that’s exactly where I’m at with my M3.

I’ve been close, in my mind, over the last few months, to letting her go, but I’m not sure if I can. Still hopeful I can keep her at least another 2 years, to get me to the point where my oldest is driving.

Pretty much every car has bluetooth now, being a 2009 my 3 has bluetooth for calling, but not music. Not sure what years you’ll be looking at, guess my GF’s 2011 Corolla doesn’t have bluetooth.

It wasn’t my first choice, but I think it works well. It wouldn’t be so bad it you could get a cars in colors and it wasn’t so common. There are a lot of cars that look great in silver.

The M3 still thrills like the day I got it, and I don’t see it going anywhere for a while.

The 3 was always supposed to be more disposable, and I think it’s gotten to the point where I won’t regret moving on. It’s been a great car, but it’s time for something different.

Mine does, too. I just know there are some big maintenance bills in the future if I decide to keep it much longer.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

Sadly won’t be as exciting as the E92, and it probably won’t be a manual, but it’ll tick another box in my wants column.

That’s fair, I just don’t have a place for another car. I think this might be me when I have a house and more money.

I really shouldn’t do anything until the garage is complete, but I probably will if something is like “hey you need me in your life”.

Do you have a pretty good idea of what will replace it? Honestly I would think you wouldn’t want a second performance car (C63 , ISF) due to gas and maintenance costs, but that’s just me.

How many miles on it?   Clutch should last a long time.  My E46 is still on the original at 110k and 20 years.

Mainly I’m looking to get into a fun car that makes practicality sacrifices while I can afford them. NB Miata, first gen Mini (to avoid the terrible engine) are the main contenders given I’m going to be on a tight budget. Not many fun sporty cars with bluetooth at the very bottom of the car market.

To make it more difficult I pl ace undue importance on non grayscale color. For some reason I just really don't like silver. I would settle for black, gray, or white if I found a good deal, but silver just turns me off.

Hell no, I don’t want to spend that kind of money on a life style vehicle, and, more to the point, that’s not my thing. It’ll be somewhat of the same vein.

I do and I don’t think it’s going to be another performance car, as much as I’d love a C63. I think I’ve got it narrowed down to one car, but there are other potential options, I think it’s going to be a bit of a departure from my E92. I’m just planning on selling the 328i and driving the M3 while I find a car.

It’s got 94500, but I’m worried it’s going other things soon. I also don’t know the history before 40k miles. It’s partially this and partially because I want something different.

It’s in a sort of ownership limbo. Parking at GT is prohibitively expensive unless I really have to have a car, which I don’t, so it is back home. The agreement is that when I get back home this winter, my parents will buy it off me for a somewhat generous price (sort of stand in graduation gift because that trip I always wanted can’t happen this year or probably the next one).

In the meantime, it needs to be driven occasionally so my mom has been taking it for the occasional shopping trip while my sister drives my mom’s much abused Volvo.

I will miss it though. It really spoiled me by being a far better car than it had any right to be during a particularly stressful part of my life. You wouldn’t expect the one sub 5k car 6 years newer and with half the miles of the rest of the ones we were looking at to be so well maintained and trouble free. Plus, I like the color.

Are your parents going to drive it after they buy it for you?

I know you may want another car, but if money is tight might be best to wait until after college.

I have thought about the same thing but I’ll see. They aren’t buying it for me, they’re buying my current car that I own off me because it would be best if my mom and my sister didn’t have to share a car. That, and the Volvo is really showing its age.

It'll involve careful consideration for sure. My brother always just kept his car at home but I'm not sure if I want to do the same thing. I'll need a car to get a summer job for sure.

What I meant was what are your parents going to do with the car once they buy it from you. That makes sense now, I didn’t know if they had a need for the car or if they were just doing you a favor.

That’s fair. My parents basically vetoed me having a car during my time in college.

Yes, there’s the, errr, let’s call it aesthetically challenged 2005 Volvo XC90 that needs a lot of work and has had so much money sunk into it that they effectively can’t get rid of it. My sister is driving it because there isn’t much to lose from scraping it against another pole, tree, etc.

Then there’s the 2002 Toyota Tundra TRD that needs suspension work, which would be its first major repair after 300,000 miles. As of right now the suspension is so squeaky you can hear it coming a mile off. There’s no reason it can’t go 400,000 which is good because it is my dad’s commuter for getting to the office, but it’ll need just a little work.

So having my perfectly functional Cruze that is newer, nicer, and significantly less embarrassing to pull up in than the Volvo or the truck would be great for them to have . And it’s a car that I wish I could move on from simply because after 2 faithful years it’s boring me a bit but I can’t really sell it because it’s so much better than any other car in its price range.

Ah, all that makes sense. If it’s really 300k on original suspension, it’s probably way overdue for a suspension overhaul.
