Update : Nevvver mind, clearly it’s a scam. Too low, too nice.

I’ve typically kept my eye out for the original GCs, the ZJ/WJ generations, but this is intriguing. $1400, clean, low mileage.
Looks like it has a true 4L, which is something I won’t budge on, and of course it doesn’t have a stick but that was never really in the cards for a Grand Cherokee, and awfully hard to find even on an XJ.
Anyone familiar with the WK generation?

Like either the guy dropped one zero in his price or is in bad need for a donor kidney and liver. I’d sure would google earth the address he says it is at and check to see if it matches the picture. Also I would wonder why the pictures show late spring based on the trees and are taken in front of two different houses.
I’d bring a backup if you go see it.
good luck!

You could sell the wheels for more than that and end up getting paid to take the damn thing, at that price.

Please budget to replace those wheels and tires.

If all it needs are wheels and tires, NP !

Dunno if Rootwyrm still comes here, but I think he knows everything and does a lot of upgrading.

If anyone ever doubted my assertions that I’m wheel-blind: I didn’t even notice how awful those are. Wow, those are amazingly bad.

Good catch, there’s definitely something suspicious.
Maybe I could have him meet me at a police station...

People willingly buy wheels like that? For actual money?

I haven’t seen him in forever. He was on one of the Jalopnik trivia nights, but don’t think I’ve noticed him commenting in quite a while.

Yeah he changed his screen name. URL is still kinja.com/actualrootwyrm. He lives in Cleveland, if I remember right he has a shop there? I dunno.

I did find him commenting on other sites, will ping him, thanks. Good idea.

I don’t like those wheels either.
That price seems rather low, especially for the mileage. It wouldn’t hurt to call and get the skinny. Console shows Quadra Drive II, which means it’s full time 4wd with an electronic limited slip rear diff, and is the most offroad oriented 4wd system for the Grand Cherokee.

I’ve seen attractive cars at givaway prices on Craigslist that mysteriously get pulled later. I don’t know what the angle is but m aybe they are trolling for phone numbers, I don’t know but I definitely get the vin number and run it before committing to anything.
One other thing, who would write “ cold air admission”? That’s kind of the mistake a BOT makes.
Or what does the first sentence mean....“Until the sale is my mechanic owned and groomed for 2005" or what kind of sentence is “ The following is a list of all new pieces and as follows:”

I hear they were popular with the urban kids circa 2007, which is probably around when this Jeep got them bolted to it.

Yeah, after looking around more at prices, there’s no way this is legit. A shame.

I know everyone else has already said it, but dear me, those hideous wheels!
![]() 08/22/2020 at 21:20 |

Yeah minus the wheels that seems like a good deal, as little as I know about them.
![]() 08/22/2020 at 22:34 |

Yes. And you can be sure it hasn’t had an oil change since.
![]() 08/22/2020 at 22:37 |

If you add a quart every thousand miles, it never needs changing! Right?!

Missing a zero.
P
rice is not
entirely
out of line for a low-mile 5.7/545. Sub-100k examples, expect to pay over $11
k for a 5.7 with an interior and body anywhere near this good. Prices on twice the miles with complete tear-out
interiors are $8k+.
If it’s below $10k then it’s the ticking time-bomb of a 4.7.

What’s the story on the 4.7L?
![]() 08/23/2020 at 00:07 |

Making it to 90k is a miracle. Making it to 109k doesn’t happen. It is a boat anchor and you cannot fix it.

It’s stunning how people assume 15 year old cars are worth $5k or less. Last time I looked for a nephew, most everything under $5k is poorly maintained junk. Again I don’t know the story but my opinion is if it is too good to be true, it’s not worth your time trying to figure out the scam.
