Between kids, a bust work week, some sad family news, and test driving trucks, next gen S2000 has been a busy boy.

I’ve test drove a Chevy Silverado and it was meh. It would be an acceptable appliance . Does everything I would need. Safe bet all be it uninspiring .

I’ve test drove a few Ford F-150's and those seats are awful. Really want to like them as they are generally the cheapest, have the above average mpgs, and competitive tow capabilities. If I can’t get comfy for a 10 minute test drive, I’m sure I would suffer during an hour long commute.

I like the Tundra but man the mpg is awful and the cabin is below par. Resale is great which screws everything up. I don’t really get an older truck with more miles even though it would probably hold up better in the long run.

Which leaves the Ram. Checked out a Laramie, and damn it is nice. I get that the other trucks I drove weren’t the same trim level and that plays a huge roll. The seats though, best out of all of them. That’s really the selling point for me. MPG’s are middling. Towing is at the lower end of the scale but sufficient for me.

I’m going to test drive one more F-150 and find a Ram to do a real test drive on to see how it responds. I’ve found this little fella in western CO. It’s a year or 2 older than I want but the price and miles are right. Plus it has the 8 speed auto. I’m a bit hesitant pulling the trigger sight unseen but I’m going to talk to the dealer today.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So school me oppo, any quirks that I should be aware of? I’m a bit suspect of their build quality.

I have two coworkers that are dedicated Mopar folks for trucks. They may view their trucks through rose colored glasses, but they love them. I think both are 2016s. I drove ‘19 Rebel after I bought the 4Runner, and had I driven the Rebel first, would probably have that.

Interior wise, it was no contest for me, Ram wins there. When I drove the F150, it was a truck. It didn’t say BUY ME. The Tundra is great for resale, and it’ll last forever, but is a compromise everywhere else. I was pleased with it when I had a new 2012, gobs of room, good power, but if old school truck ride (harsh) is what you’re after, you’ll find it there. That said, I may have the opportunity to acquire a well kept 2007 inexpensively, so I may have another Tundra in the future.

I haven’t driven/been in a Titan. I test drove a new 2005, and remember feeling it was fast and spacious. Curious how the new ones are, actually.

I have two coworkers that are Ram guys but they drive gas and diesel 3/4 tons. They have been pestering me to get the Ram.

This, so damn much.

My dad has a 2017 (I think) EcoDiesel 1500 and my brother in law has a 2020 1500 with the H emi and the 48 volt battery thing (start assist or whatever they call it). I thought my dad’s interior and ride was nice, and the 2020's only got better. They both love them. The only issues my dad has encountered were directly related to the EcoDiesel and covered under warranty.

If they made a Suburban sized Ram Charger I would be all over it.

I’ve read the EcoDiesel has a flaw in the camshaft design. It’ll slip timing when the timing gear comes loose. I know lots of manufacturers use pressed on fittings for cam shafts but it seems to be the leading theory on EcoDiesel Rams  slipping timing.

M y roommate has a 2018 and HAAAAAAATES it. He shouldn’t have bought a truck in the first place, so that might have something to do with it.

I’m not excited about stepping into a full-size but family size has driven the decision. I’ll probably going back down to a midsize at some point.

Mine is a 2016 but a 2500. No issues other than diesel emissions problems, then problems created by my attempts to fix them.

Interior and everything else is holding up great. Standard maintenance is pretty easy, oil changes, fuel filters, air filter & cabin filter. That’s it . Brakes were the only other non-scheduled issue, plan on doing new everything at 80k - 100k, including calipers.
