They are no longer independently owned, but they get to keep their name and same folks running it, Frank Williams gave his blessing.
The Williams F1 team gets to stay alive in F1, and may actually have the funding for improvement.
Best case scenario for them given the circumstances they are in. At least they weren’t purchased by another manufacturer and renamed to VW or something.

It’s sad, but they’ve had such a bad go of it lately that it’s probably for the best. Also, who would be stupid enough to change the name? It’s one of the most recognized F1 names ever.

I wondered how much less this equity group paid for the team, just by conceding the “elegant negotiables” (keep the Williams name and the FW designation of the cars). I despise equity firms, but I’ll say : well done, chaps, well done ...

What does Dorilton get out of the deal? How long until they punt it down the road? It’s a shame the family don’t own it any more, but unless your Lawrence Stroll, there’s no way you can afford it.

I hope they start with making sure the 2022 car’s aero is nailed down so they can take advantage of the Merc engine.

“ I despise equity firms”
AGREED! At the very least, I hope Dorilton will find some legitimate sponsors to help costs.

There is more equity distribution under the new Concorde Agreement and the budget cap - it might be tenable for them at least for the next few years.

Or turn it into a White Merc depending on how the Racing Point thing goes.

Nah. Remember, Williams thumbs their noses at designing copycats.

Sure, Williams did. This is “Williams” now.
Not sure how much power Frank or his Daughter have anymore, at least for decisions at that level.

Ewww, I hope not. At least not until 2023-. 2024.

Not until the rules chance, they will likely just clean house a bit and make sure it’s as efficient as it can be.

Technically, the rule change is already in place. The next gen cars were due for the '21 season, but Covid pushed it to '22. Most likely the now '22 car is built and being wind tunneled. Not sure if they will be allowed to test/make adjustments during the '21 season, so that's why I suggested '23-'24.

Gotcha, I should have said when they come into effect. Though a clarification of the Racing Point thing still needs to be made.
Which will open a whole new can of worms, such as Red Bull really wanting white Red Bulls.

“If all goes well, Claire will be gone next week”
“It’s just that she is the daughter of the boss, that’s why she had priority. But that is no longer the case now”
