I scraped (not scrapped)  the frame on the passenger side. Sprayed it with Ace Rust Stop. It has good reviews and didn’t ask for tons of prep.

Tomorrow, I’ll do the drivers side. Then, crossbars and the rear diff, plus a few spots in the bed.

Honestly, I’m impressed how good of a condition everything is on the under carriage. Only thing that rusted out were the clamps holding the heat shields and I fixed those last year. Exhaust, all of the hangers, everything looks great. But now I want to paint everything and refresh her a bit.

Interesting. The CR-V’s control arms and other various undercarriage parts are rusted to hell from 3 years of Chicago salt and one of those years sitting in the snowy lot of a collision center, wonder if this stuff could help.

Man, the more I talk about this car the more I realize how absolutely fucked it is for being only 7 years old goddamn

This Tundra made us buy my dad a 2018 TRD Sport, and I want to buy another one (looking now, but keeping this one).

Most rust mitigation products should work if you’re willing to do the prep work. It’s tricky with suspension pieces because access is restricted.

Thanks! I hope it lasts. I can probably make myself do this every 3-5 years.

Is that first picture bait for David Tracy?

Y ou should mail him a ziplock full of it. That miserable diesel van seems to be relatively rust free; it must be unfamiliar & possibly scary for him.

Postage for sending (former) metal to Germany is probably pricey. Maybe you could find a military person heading over to act as a courier?

What did you use to scrape? A putty knife/scraper or some flavor of power tool?

“scrapped” or “scraped”?

Haha that guy is crazy. Anyway, this Toyota rust is too good for him anyway.

Wire wheel on a drill, and three different flathead screwdrivers, plus a hammer.

My dad used to live  across the street so I could get a large compressor anytime I needed it, but I didn’t feel like driving to Denver this time.

Ouch, this hurts me, as I’m a bit of a grammar Nazi.
