Can’t be him as I only see one vehicle in pieces not 78.

Tracy would just leave it like that and then get all incredulous when the police ticketed him for blocking the pavement with car parts.

No, that’s Torch, harvesting an engine for his beetle.

He should buy a Trabbie since it can't rust on him.

I worry for him. I’ve got this feeling like TUV and he are likely to have shockingly different ideas about what sort of flaws are ok for a car. At least the van doesn’t seem rusty, because I’m sure they are far apart on how much rust is acceptable.

its probably gonna cost him a chunk more money than he really planned for
its probably a safe bet vehicle inspections over on this side of the pond are just a wee bit more stringent than he might be used to...
well...at least here and in germany... going by some of the shit i seent driving around in greece and italy i suspect a vehicle inspection there largely consists of paying a mechanic to look the other way and sign off on it

Nein! This vehicle is unacceptable! Unacceptable!

Well, being Amsterdam as pictured, I’d say he’s “doing” a lot of drugs.
Which he’ll need for the process of dealing with TuV.
By the way, speaking of roadside rebuilds... I once knew an ME in a different life who was into both airplanes and classic VW buses. He’d drive the 600 miles every year to the Reno Air Races in a VW bus— but always with a “just in case” spare engine in the cargo area. On at least one occasion he did an engine swap on the side of the road on I80 West of Winnemucca. In the dark.
He was crazy. But adorable. Miss that guy.

My dad said said he could do an old Porsche swap no problem, I’ve seen the old track parking lot swap pictures. According to CNN I think he is likely to fall into a sinkhole in Amsterdam these days.

Traveling internationally during a pandemic as an essential worker I suppose.

In the days of the Trabant it was common practice to carry at least one spare engine with you.
Changing a engine which dispensed with water, oil and a
lot of other things made life easier when a change was needed.

I mean what he’s used to is Michigan not having vehicle inspections...

Exactly, its like the description of southern Europe except stateside we've cut out the middle man. In Ohio, if it's not rebuilt and the clerk can find a vin, you're less than $100 away from having it on the road whether it belongs there or not..
