Not sure exactly what that is but it seems pretty Maybachy.

an S550 or S450 with maybach badges and rims. the maybach 57 and 62 were basically fancier W220s and they were replaced by the current-gen
S
class based
maybachs

W221 pretender edition.

Woah! I did a look. It’s totally not the 57 or 62 which are ullltra rare in this country, but seems too early a model to be a legitimate Mercedes-Maybach. And of course the badging doesn’t help - it’s just a bunch of Maybach badges, no model or nothin’.
But surely nobody would buy those crazy expensive rims just to look dope! Or those almost-tacky taillights! That sort of M3-up-badging seems uncommon in the S-class crowd.

Those taillights are factory for the S-class of the W-something-something, from an era where LED meant LUXURY, even if it looked like crap.

Nibby is right. Mercedes sells a Maybach trim line of the S550 and S650.

Yes, yes they would. Same as they bought the badges.
You’d laugh if you knew how many more trim and badge pieces are sold in the first few hours than G-Wagen’s in a year MB sells after an updated exterior look for the next model year is available.

Wow.
Badges are one thing, but I happen to know that even pedestrian OEM wheels are absurdly expensive. These must be $15k!

But this is too early to be one of those, it’s an unnofficial trim!

With the exception of a few cars with huge brake rotors, all car wheels over 18" in diameter exist purely for aesthetics. Indeed they are a detriment to the ultimate goal of comfort for luxury cars, as smaller wheels with taller sidewall tires makes for a far more supple and compliant ride.
But cars are status symbols and
people wanna look cool so, big wheels are here to stay.

Oh, I’m aware :) My car has like 15s. And like a metre of sidewall ;)

Hell yeah,
bigly tires represent!

Asia is the land of near approximation.
Even at a supposed $15K + badges + used MB (LOL depreciation 1 day out of warranty) you are buying a lot of status at a small fraction of Maybach money.

I guess you’re right. The Maybach is such a premium, in theory whatever you pay to get there is worth it.
The curious thing is, who does it get rep with? Maybach were never a big seller here, nobody knows who they are.
There’s a thin line between those who know enough about Maybach to be impressed, without knowing enough about Maybach to know you’re faking it

Association with luxury goods works the other way on Oppo. Same principle with very different aims.

there are more than a few running rich people around Manhattan ... they annoy me. Get a 6oohL, a Flying Spur, or a Continental ... all cars I’d rather be driven in ...
