Got these from eBay per a Mazda6 group member’s suggestion. Driver’s side went on easy-peasy. Burnt my finger pulling the factory bulb out, though. Those things get very hot after just a few seconds of being on!

Passenger side was not as easy. The connector for the bulb fell up inside the door panel. I had to use vice grips to get it out. It’s mangled now, but serviceable. Then, the wires for that side LED both broke. I didn’t feel like trying to get a replacement from the seller in China.

So, I had to strip the rubber off the ends of the wires and reconnect them with electrical tape. My wife helped with the tape part since I was getting rather frustrated at that point. Surprisingly, they both work.

I've had a pair sitting in my door pocket for a year. I'll install them eventually. Probably.

Well you got it working, so that’s something.

My S60 has puddle lights in the mirrors (nothing fancy like logo projectors though), but for reasons that make no sense to me, they only work if you press the light button on the remote, there’s no way to have them just turn on if the doors are open. I’m sure I could find a way to make it work, but seems like a lot of work for limited benefit.

DOING THIS DOING THIS DOING THIS

I’m not much for modding, but I’m totally doing this.

Our Highlander has them in the mirrors as well. The shine the “Highlander” logo on the ground. But only when you unlock the car with your keyless entry fob. Or walk up to it while it’s locked  with the fob in your pocket.

They are a nice little addition, for sure.

Nice.

Everyone seems to love the “ quattro” puddle lights that came with my car. We humans are so easily amused.

That looks really cool!

but

I feel like kinda defeats the purpose of a puddle lamp? Seems like the high-contrast image that it casts would distract from ( if not obscure) the texture of whatever it is you’re about to step onto. I’d really hate to overlook, say,  a patch of ice whose edge just happened to line up with my door’s projected logo...
