This is the cleanest, most beautiful “dirty” oil I’ve ever seen. I changed the oil in the 350,000+ mile Miata 34 times and it was black each time.

Honda manual says 8k oil intervals so realistically I was about 3k early but... Previous owner said he last did it about two years ago.

The best part? When removing the fairing to get to the drain bolt and filter, I o nly broke 2 out of the 3 trim clips. Sigh. Trim clips are the work of the devil.

New battery i s in a nd this thing starts up so much better now. I didn't get to the spark plugs today, I'll save that for when my gas tank isn't full since I guess I have to lift it. 

Only issue I ran into was chain tension. She’s loose! I can press the chain up into the swingarm pretty easily, and am getting a good deal more than the 1" of deflection Honda specifies. Probably closer to 2" than 1". I should probably fix that tonight but I think I’m going to need a bigger wrench to break the rear wheel loose...

I went about 8600 since my last change. I’m very disappointed in myself. The oil was not as clean as yours.

On top of that, I executed a flawless oil change with one exception. I got no oil on my hands unscrewing the drain plug , didn’ t drop it in the oil pan, no dripping from the car to the driveway. The exception was that the hole in the top of the oil colection pan clogged up with shit it collected from sitting in the shed and overflowed onto the driveway.  It was a sizable mess.

I call that “pulling a BP” when I manage to dump oil everywhere.

I've resorted to wearing disposable gloves for oil changes. Even then, I still often get it up to my elbows. Stupid location for the oil filter on the Civic...

i usually go with something like It Valdez’d all over the drvie way.

I think BPing would end with your car blow ing up .

Speaking of which, the queen is coming due for an oil change. I need to get that scheduled.
