There’s a bike for sale near by that I might go ride tomorrow. It’s a 97 Suzuki Marauder VZ800. A middle weight cruiser, not a very special bike but it ticks a lot of boxes. For one I love the color, I like the straighter bars, I’m not fan of kick backed/drop bars most cruisers have, it already has nice hard bags, a passenger back rest so maybe my wife will ride, and it had forward controls, which as a weekend on a new Rebel taught me, my long legs need on a low slung cruiser. I also like the wider front tire, some cruisers have skinny front tires, I don’t like that aesthetically, and I question their ability to hand hard braking.
The seller said some one is looking at it tonight so we’ll just have to wait and see. If not there’s also a Shadow 800 nearby that I don’t hate, and would at least like to ride for just to rule them out or not.

Forward controls can be comfortable on longer highway rides but are really hard to get used to starting and stopping. You loose a lot of control over the bike with them, makes it feel more like you’re wrestling the thing around instead of it being responsive like you’d expect.
I like the pegs under me, but if you’re a tall dude you do need a taller bike for it to be comfortable .

I’m 6’2” And have some hip/knee problems. So getting my leg up not the pegs of a cruiser without forward controls is a bit tricky.

Yeah I really want something to take on longer highway rides. The little 200 is a chore after like 10 miles of anything over 55mph. And sometimes it has a hard time maintaining 55. Like if there’s a strong headwind, or large hill.

Which makes it perfect to learn on.
Every ride is a ride at the limit of the throttle and your experience.

Edit: Sounds like you might need a larger bike without tinkering too much with the power/weight ratio.
At that point you should cut out all the half, quarter, and eighth steps. Get yourself a big boi bike you can stretch out on.

Yup. It has the power you need, and that’s it lol
Also it sounds awesome. The fast to loud ratio is prefect
