I wasn’t too aware of the list. I could get quite a few around here I think.

Full list is here: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/the-great-oppo-hunt-the-game-is-on-1844567863
It’s not too late to play!

Neat. Does someone crunch numbers for a living?
Hey do you know the scores ? I see Dusty got them updated, but no list. I’m new to Instagram ( just found out the difference between a feed and a story) so I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

My cousin is a spelunker, and manages/lives on a preserve with a cave. That one should be pretty easy once I get around to it.

All the caves here are apparently terrible, basically just places where a couple large boulders fell together to create a little niche (much like the one that’s actually been submitted I would say) . I might grab one anyway, but stone lean-to is not what I think of when I think of a cave. I guess we have unfavorable geography...

We have an abundance of limestone here, so caves are a-plenty.

What you can't see from the cave picture is a significant underground tunnel system that you can look into from multiple points around those rocks. It's on a boyscout camp site and they have explored it further. We didn't dare.

Makes me more annoyed my fully caged off-road race car thing was disqualified. Admittedly I couldn’t tell what exactly it was either but it was a fully caged thing .
Oppo hunt has been very close at the front. I've fallen back a little unfortunately but I had a strong start. More importantly, I'm having a lot of fun.

Where is the link to the spreadsheet?
I can’t find it anywhere...

The cave one and national park one are especially difficult in se Michigan.
But oh man do we have ruins and abandoned stuff.

I have a handful of things lined up to go get when I have time (including a cave which I guess is rare) but all the remaining
big-points collections of things and so on are many hours away,
so by the end of this weekend I’ll probably be done. It’s fun but is consuming so much of my limited free time I don’t know that I’m going to increase my search
radius again (especially since I have no hope of being top 10
).

As a semi-retired off road racer it looks to me like a recreational-spec off road buggy, which is why I felt I couldn't count it. If you get a good picture that convinces me otherwise I'll allow it

Well I can't pretend to know more than you on the subject then.

I was on top of the cave and did not feel safe to get the cave shot so it didn’t count...I’m determined to find one though.

I’m going to try and wrap as much as I can tomorrow. I don’t think I’ll be able to do anything this weekend.

I’m going to do hunting in cent ral Boston Saturday, and maybe a trip through the southern s uburbs Sunday. The question is whether it’s worth it to do a quick trip across the norther n suburbs tomorrow night.

For least found I want to nominate street running train, as a true street running train has only been found once. Everything else has been half-score trolley submissions
![]() 08/19/2020 at 19:43 |

True enough. I think the Green line trams are the only ones I’ll be able to get, and even then it’s just a really tiny stretch, as it usually runs in medians above ground. For a freight train, it looks like the nearest one would be in Holyoke (about an hour and a half away), and I’d guess it doesn’t get much use, so who knows if there would even be a train. I thought I remembered some weird train thing in Cambridge, but I think that’s just this where they’ve build a building enclosing the line:

For some reason I thought you were based in Texas.
I have about 20 stops tomorrow. I can weed out some as I’m almost done with the grab bag ones.

I live five miles from Holyoke. Those tracks aren't used anymore

I was in Texas 2013-2018, so you aren’t so much wrong as out of date.

Oh, also if it’s not on your list already, be sure to hit up Bissell Au to & B ody Co (Google called it Bissell Frame & Frame Co for me) on Chouteau Ave. It will be worth your time, and should definitely be worth something for the hunt...

I was working in the area a few years ago and as I drove by had a big wtf moment. As soon as the list came out I put it down as a target. It’s strange how those kinds of things get tucked away in your memory.

Yeah, I was playing around with Google Earth at some point and was like huh? Not where you expect a boneyard...
I missed your post before, but glad to see you got it!
It is apparently just some guy’s collection: https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/a-hobby-takes-flight-how-one-man-built-a-collection/article_9806c3a0-9cc1-59c8-b913-f7c1457c72a0.html

For some reason I ha d thought it was a strange hobby to be stored in the back of the shop like that. Thanks for the article. I don’t feel so out of place doing a slow drive by and snapping photos.
