It’s from the mid-fifties and that’s all the information you’re getting out of me. If no one guesses it, I will reveal the answer later today.

Those were aircooled. I'm pretty sure we're looking at a radiator

Nope. The Corvair came out in the early sixties and is rear-engined.

Still nope. Hint: the chassis in the  picture is mid-engine, front wheel drive.

No, but the vehicle does have one similarity with the Model X.

No, but good guess!

Kinja'd!!!

The DKW’s engine is in front of the front axle, though, whereas the one in my picture is mid-engined.

Ya it wasn’t an exact match but I wasn’t finding a whole lot of 50s FWD cab over designs

Some sort of early cab over American can or van based pickup. Was it mass produced? Thinking Dodge here.

It was envisioned as the van of the future, but never went into production. Also, it has a Pontiac engine.

I wonder what it would have been like to drive one of these. Sitting pretty much on top of the front axle, way up at the front.

I hope with EVs, we see a return to more fun deviations from the standard vehicle shape.

Agreed. As much as I’m usually not a fan of EVs, I do like how they seem to have brought some joy back into car design. I like the clean shape of the Model 3, the Taycan looks stunning, and the various electric truck concepts out there right now are some of the best-looking new trucks in decades  IMO. And if people start making kit cars based on these EV platforms, I’m sure we’ll see even more innovative car designs!

Answer was already revealed. It’s the 1955 GMC L’Universelle concept, which is a mid-engine, FWD van concept.
