whomp whomp
As a precautionary measure, after starting to feel a headache and a sore throat, I went ahead and got a COVID-19 test done on me... a few hours after the attendant messed around with my airways I got a result:
POSITIVE!*
*: not within the confidence parameters.
What?
It’s strange waking up to a test result sent through email that simultaneously says so little and so many things that might worry me.

Oh, pleasant! :/
If it’s not within the confidence numbers, I’d put less faith in it, but still take it easy, get well and keep us apprised!!!

It's their way of saying you need to get the other nostril swabbed...

I sent an email to the technician because I think they just took a random laboratory test format and the confidence parameters are just random crap the computer spews out and not necessarily
linked to the test? I don’t know.
Given I’m now supposed to isolate, I guess I’ll be closer to oppo than in a long time

What do you do? Can you get rechecked with a better test, or do you just have to assume you have it and keep yourself quarantined for a couple of weeks?

Well, I sent an email to the lab boss, but I really don’t want to get another test. but... I also don’t have a fever so...
I think I’ll have to assume the worst and just keep a thermometer and an oxygen
saturation meter close to me in case I should see a doctor

thanks! I’ll try hard to get better

Ah, shit... Hope it’s short-lived.

Our tests are free. And the lab people are unlikely to be responsible for a nondefinitive result - that’s either on you not being riddled with it, the sampling methodology or the person on the other end of the swab or a combination of all three.
Either way...stay the fuck at home. Unless you are getting another test or need hospital treatment.

You might live in a more developed country than I do. If I went to a public hospital with the two symptoms I had (headache and slight cough) I would’ve been rejected since they only give tests to people who are already pretty sick.
I called the lab and they confirmed I have it so, yeah...
I have stayed home, except to go to work or to the supermarket, and even then I’ve tried to take as many precautions as possible. But it seems like I failed. Obviously now I have to isolate for at least two weeks before getting tested again

We’ll be glad to have you, I just hope you feel better and it’s a false positive!

I’d probably have to argue that too mainly because, while I do live in a developed economy, I live in a rural area...and we don’t have the same level of services that city folk get.
Get well soon...
