my wife gave me the green light to get rid of the Focus and buy a truck. She sent me a link to a used F-150 for $33k. Ok cool, I’m only about $32.5k short. She also said no junk i’ll have to spend every weekend fixing. I think shes still traumatized by the Allroad.

Get another Allroad. You already know what the worst case scenario is like, so it’ll almost certainly be better than that.

An Allroad with 10k in repairs and a cheap Honda Ridgeline as a reliable practical CUV trucklet seems like a better idea.

Or a trailer. T he only reason I can go truckless right now is the trailer. When our daughter takes the Outback to school, I won’t have anything to pull the trailer, so we’re looking at buying a small truck for my son and then a newish SUV for my wife.

a hitch with a platform would probably work even better.  it really sucks putting trash in the back of the mini-van even with it all going into a giant black trashbag.  The smell of that stuff fermenting for a week or two in the summer heat is pretty bad.
