A well-behaved J-body is a much appreciated J-body.

Drove Jolene 60 miles or so today and she behaved so well. No check engine light or rough idle, no stuttering or (abnormally) slow acceleration, and A/C that was almost *too* cold.

It’s amazing just how much of a difference replacing the oxygen and MAP sensors made. The car feels more “alive.” It’s still slow by modern standards, but it feels a lot more peppy. The failing oxygen sensor had it running extremely lean for two years, though, so a power difference is to be expected.

As a reward for good behavior , she got a quick driveway detail before being put back into storage until the local Cars and Coffee meet this coming Saturday.

To be fair, even a shitty J-body is usually an appreciated one, because they’re really good at running shitty. It could be a jalopy, but it will still somehow get you there. Oh sure, it’ll have several warning lights on, the speedometer won’t work, the only gear left in the 3-speed auto is 2nd, and the exhaust is long gone, but it’ll get you there.
