Should I be concerned? My normal satire posts get something like 500-700 views and 15-20 likes.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This one is at 8,100/6. Not a great ratio...I’m starting to think this has been shared with people who are taking it seriously.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
(Spoiler: The entire gag here is that GM is so lazy and greedy, they would take 2005 vehicles with minor upgrades and sell them as “retro.” Methinks I’ve been inadvertently picked up by a search engine...why couldn’t it have been one of the good articles, not a mediocre first draft?)

That would be pretty funny!

Ive had Oppo links show up as Google suggestions, so yeah, maybe

As long as you don’t get a slew of insulting comments, I’d call it a win.
Indeed I have noticed (and followed for oppo) a bunch of gray people recently, so maybe you are bringing in valuable new community members for us.

Maybe you can get picked up by the Onion as a side gig.

The views are all from nissan-global.com.
It’s now the basis for their 3 year strategic plan. Nice work.

One time I made a post about a Dodge Shelby Charger for sale that had too many keywords and blew up like crazy and the grays rolled in with their insulting comments. I had to censure the title so people would stop clicking on it and annoying me with their insults.
If it gets to be like that, you could backdate it or change the title to be “go away.”
Yah it is never your best work that gets blown up. That one was okay, but your previous satire was fantastic. Keep it up though. Don't stop.

Probably because the satire is kind of subtle, GM really COULD re-release a truck or SUV from 2005, and it would sell with the right brand or image behind it. Customers don’t seem to care as long as it’s big, expensive, and isn’t a car.

Do a google for “retro hummer”. It’s the #3 result.
Kinja SEO continues to be bigly effective.

Jeez, what were people even saying? “Not a real Charger” type stuff? Weirdos.
I hate the weird SEO that happens from time to time, but I’m also thankful for it- back when I had that Hyundai Scoupe Turbo, a guy in NH (I’m in Ohio) found the post through some SEO recommendation and left his contact info in the comments, then he drove 14 hours one way to come buy it for four times what I’d paid, having done almost zero work to the car.

Any car make/model + Kinja SEO = all the views
Hopefully that will help OPPO to survive here a while longer.

Kinja SEO is legit.

I got 11k on my Palisade N post. I’ve noticed the articles with thousands of views end up on my suggestions for google

The 2023 Nissan lineup will be:
Small Rogue
Medium Rogue
Some Kinja Articles
Pathfinder
Giant Rogue

Woah, there is a butt for every seat I guess and some butts are a lot wealthier than others.
Basically the comments section was grays shouting at each other over whether a fwd car with 120 horsepower should have been called a Dodge Shelby Charger. It didn't help the article was very poorly written.

Did you kill that article? I kinda want to see your grays...
Lately I’ve been getting a ton of replies and stars on a comment I left on
that Jalopnik
article from two years ago or so
about Paul Walker grooming 16 year old girls, lots of grays defending... a 40 year old’s right to have sex with minors? I dunno man.

It’s been shared on at least one Hummer facebook group, and there are other private Hummer facebook groups that it could have been shared in, but those posts can’t be searched.
EDIT: According to Sharedcontent.com, the post has been shared 57 times on facebook.

Here it is, but I warn you this is the most poorly written thing I’ve ever published here. 66 k views.

Something I’m proud of for contrast.

I dunno, the grays bring their Facebook feuds here and we do t like that.

Oh, I remember that post now. Yeah that was weird.

I was just tired of dealing with it so I censured the keywords that promp ted 66 THOUSAND people to read that steaming pile of crap that I called the post.

That happened once on a Camaro satire post. It got shared on many GM forums.

The (insert popular make/model) is (insert hot take or made-up fact)
Surefire way to get a post over 5k views.

GM actually doing this is so believable that it may not have been obvious to some people that it's satire
![]() 07/28/2020 at 11:55 |

How many clickbait ad sites do you think have referenced this (possibly stealing all your hard written snark verbatim) and are now peddling it as fact all over the dumb side of the internet?
Just wait ‘til someone's
druncle sends you a link to one...
![]() 07/28/2020 at 11:57 |

The comments on that are. . . well. . . awful.

With today's society, someone thought you were for reals. I know the truth though. (Actually, every time I start reading one of your articles it takes me a minute to realize it's satire.)

The entire gag here is that GM is so lazy and greedy, they would take 2005 vehicles with minor upgrades and sell them as “retro.”
But when FCA does it, they’re being frugal?

too bad the internal search sucks so much
![]() 07/28/2020 at 13:27 |

What’s weird is that, even in this article, I went HEAVY on the ridiculous supporting details (nostalgia for 2005, GM magically coming up with a “new” car in just a few months, the lazy Best Buy employee).
I’ve seen far more subtle things from Onion and BorowitzReport in recent weeks. Interesting what people hone in on...it’s like they read two lines, and as long as it fits their wishes or worldview, it’s fact. The rest is irrelevant.
Wait, that IS how the media works today!

Was it in the sidebar ?
If it becomes popular it can hit the sidebar and explode, but heck 8k is small for the sidebar . A good topic can get near 100k from sitting at #1 for 1-3 days.
![]() 07/28/2020 at 17:34 |
|
Yep, sidebar as #1 for about 24 hours.
Again, super weird because I rate this one about a 4/10 compared to my dozens of prior posts in the same vein over the past 8-10 years . Almost filler material just to get an idea out of my head.

Niceee, when I commented I was on my phone so I see no sidebar, but yep I see you there. Honestly that is low. Normally I see things #1 in the sidebar with like 30-50k views the big stuff 80-100k.
So soak it up dude! Make some more content and beat the 10k you got so far!
