I went to look at that little runabout I posted last night. The seller was a great guy, the boat overall was in decent shape. With one BIG Hang Up. For one it hadn’t ran in 2 years, but worse than that the prop had some broken. He said the last time they took it out it just wouldn’t go into forward or reverse which wasn’t quite true it would go into great but apparently didn’t spin the prop. He had an extra lower unit laying around but who knows what kind of condition it’s in. I figure with the age of the outboard you’d be better off just putting on a whole new motor than trying to fix that one. I didn’t even make an offer as I didn’t want to offend the guy.

However I found another nice looking 14ft runabout first sale locally. I’m going to check it out right now.

Sounds like a good call, the boat shells alone you usually have to pay to get rid of so if the outboard has big issues they’re not worth it.

It looks like a ‘60s Glasstron. We had one when I grew up in the ‘70's. Great little Mississippi river boat. We learned to waterski behind it, it had a Mercury 35 hp and it would scoot.

You made me decide to look at old boats after you posted that. I found this that I wish they had shared more pictures of. I tried to talk my wife into it, but I guess my kayaks are all the boats I’m allowed right now.

Since the only picture in the ad is from behind. Here’s an example of one. It’s a 50’s boat with tail fins!
