Very cool. Don’t see those often.
I see a lot of 1st gen El Caminos on Barn Finds etc, but they always seem to be 59s, not 60s.

What’s the difference?

This was back when the Big 3 updated styling every year on most cars. Underneath they’re the same but the 60 has toned down styling from the wild bat wing 59s.

The most notable difference is the fins, tail lights, and front end, but it’s actually a completely different body.
The black car is a 59 and the red shows the 60 front end.

I can see why someone would prefer the 60, that is polarizing. The year by year differences in older cars are nuts

Yeah, it’s crazy now to completely redo the entire body stamping every year, but that’s what all of the Big 3 did.
And the 59 and 60 cars are largely the same underneath. Look at the following- 3 consecutive years (57-59) full sized Chevrolets (mixed up order because Kinja)

You can see why 58 is so unloved

I picked a bad example (honeycomb wheels WTF?). The Impala is very cool and goes for big $$

Loved or not I wouldn’t kick any of those cars out of bed. Love those blues too

Love me some 1st gen Elky. I like them both, honestly. They are pretty rare these days and seem to be available in two variants - rusted beyond saving and fully restored (and thus WAY out of my price range).

I have always wanted this one for some reason.
