Nothing worse than sitting at my desk and getting a text from my dad with just photo after photo of his trip. He’s currently on a 2-3 week offroading trip somewhere in BC with my mom.

He’s clearly doing something right with his life.  I think his goal is to retire in a year or two and do this nearly full time.

Awesome. That’s great that your mom is down for trips like that.

My wife is going to take some convincing...

My wife just finished up a 4k+ mile camping/road trip with our daughters. I drove up to Montana last week and camped with them down through Wyoming and Colorado. Showered in Sante Fe and am now back melting in Phoenix.

that sounds great! Jealous for sure. You have a 2 door right? My wife has green-lit a Jeep for me, but only an unlimited which....no thanks.

Her reasoning is kids/space, but I contend you can fit crap and kids into a 2 door with no problems.

Your wife is right.

Even with the longer wheelbase in my LJ, I used a cargo carrier to go camping for a week by myself.

The SWB Wranglers, especially given how narrow all Wranglers are, have damned little  cargo space.

No wife, happy something :)

Oh, to be of probably the last generation to be able to do all of this stuff without help.

How’d your test turn out?

Yes. She took them in the Tundra and I met them in the Jeep. However, we’ve done 5k or so mile camping excursions with them and a dog in the Jeep. I have a roof rack on the Jeep with a basket. Camping with the truck is a lot easier as far as cargo space. For a one man plus a dog  rig, the Jeep was great over the last week. I took the bench out and had plenty of room for the dog and my stuff.

We’re a little different, though. I have a backpacker’s mentality when it comes to camping. Bring the least amount of stuff as possible.

Don’t get a four door, just get a different SUV. Jeeps are poorly made and expensive for what you get. The two door’s only saving grace is that it’s like driving a 4wd go cart.

Got my test results yesterday and I was negative. Same with my sister, Dad, and BIL. We were all exposed to people, so it’s kind of crazy we were all negative considering 25% of tests in AZ we’re coming back positive.

Pretty useless getting results back over two weeks after being tested, though.

So far I’ve only had one family member test positive , and they are in Italy. My aunt was in a nursing home in NY and even she stayed Covid free. Everyone in my family has jobs they’ve had to shiw up in person to through this whole thing, so no one has been able to isolate.

I’m wondering if there’s a genetic factor to becoming infected with this thing.

Eh, a different SUV is tough. Jeeps are really the cheapest of the offroaders (looking at the 4Runner and Bronco) and I can’t fit a 4Runner, Tacoma or Gladiator on my driveway or in my garage.

Glad to hear you’re negative on that. It goes without saying that the picture of this virus will be much different in a years time.  The damage it is doing to various organs is impressive.  Stay safe.

TBH, my 200k mile, twenty year old Tundra is more solid than my Jeep. Got the Tundra for less than $6k. My Jeep is still valued at around $14k.

Eh. Americans fill their bodies with all sorts of shit that ruin organ systems and kill us en mass, but we don’t seem too phased by that. There’s plenty of nasty shit out there than can wreak havoc on your body. I was never too worried.

A bit cavalier in my opinion , but everybody is entitled to their own.  Glad you're ok.

Cavalier is more than half ou r population having heart disease and diabetes and still eating shit food and living sedentary lives.

I wear a mask, limit contact with others wash my hands regularly , eat a healthy diet, exercise and try to keep my mind sharp.

Keeping healthy is a lot more involved than sitting inside watching the news.

There’s a whole lot worse stuff out there than covid that people never even think about.

My in laws have a 2 door JK and some friends have a 4 door. While both are pretty sad on interior room, the 2 is pathetic. A rear facing car seat is basically impossible to get into the back seat and space behind the rear bench is laughable in place or tilted forward.
