Remember what it’ll look like in >10 years.
It still blows my mine how many sub 10 year old fords have flaked off paint and rust. And in the weird est places.

My ST, impeccably cared for and in a non-salt region... has peeling paint in the door sills and under the hood.
Frustrating to say the least.

Yeah a buddy of mine has a 2019 or 2020 mustang GT and he won’t shut up about how bad the paint is. Also has a weird piano black panel on the trunk right where you’d grab it to close the thing that gets scratched to holy hell.

nah, the tailgate on the new bronco is aluminum.

Still love the paint colour though.

Man that is bad, I had a 96 explorer with 164k on the clock with almost no rust. It was on transmission #3 and was used to tow a boat for most of its life.
Also a colleague has a lock on a first edition is 60k really what they cost!? He wouldn’t say.

Haven’t seen an alloy body with paint flake near me yet.

The license plates tell the story.

Is Jeep that bad? I mean, EVERYONE has one it seems and my Dad loves his with no issues yet.

I’ve never understood how Ford gets away with this . My personal history: 2008 Town Car- peeled off hood, 2013 Mustang - bubbled and rusted on hood and trunk lid, clear coat failed on front bumper, 2018 Escape - peeled off A-pillar. Looked at a 2014 Mustang last year and walked away because of paint bubbles on the hood, despite driving an hour and a half out to the dealer.
Bizarrely, the best quality paint on any Ford product I’ve owned or had assigned to me was a 1984 Town Car, which was 31 years old when I bought it - other than dings and scuffs from being used for decades, it was still perfectly smooth, shiny, and glossy and stayed that way for the 3 years I owned it.
My dad had an Expedition company car that also had paint issues on the hood and tailgate, though his current Explorer seems OK so far.

Sounds about right...when the 4-door Wranglers first came out, the dealers knew they could fill up the lots with Rubicons and Saharas and sell them all. Pretty much the same deal with the Gladiator, too, but it seems to have calmed down a little.

Sales success, yes, but that has nothing to do with paint quality - the Mustang has also been a strong seller, and has had major issues with its aluminum body panels for 15 years.
Aluminum F-150s have had the same paint adhesion and oxidation problems as all of Ford’s aluminum paneled vehicles, maybe not to the same extent as Mustangs and SUV tailgates, but much more than with competing pickups. Probably the biggest difference is that Ford is a bit more flexible with goodwill repairs out of warranty for F-150 owners than they are for their other models. Ordinarily, if this happens outside your comprehensive warranty period, you’re totally on the hook for it, as it doesn’t meet the requirements for coverage under the corrosion warranty (no perforation).

Nah, the rear door is aluminum, so it won’t rust like that.
Instead it will bubble/ peel like this:

They used to be, my 84 AMC was notoriously bad.
Here in salt land I see alot of rough jeeps but Ford is still trying to figure out how to paint aluminum.
My wife's ST has some paint peel but no rust yet.

Our company’s 2015 Explorer has rust in the same spot. And the drivers side elbow rest is split, etc...

they were BRUTAL in canada. For like 3 years, you couldnt see a mustang without the front edge just...gone

I live in the land of no rust*. When I was back in NY, it was crazy the amount of newish vehicles that were rusted to hell.
*vehicles that have made their way to CO from other areas are excluded from this statement.

Are these REAL imperfections or COFL imperfections?

Wait, you put it in park at a temporary stop?
Also, better change that oil. Yes, I’m being nosey. I was just trying to read the license plate state.

VW had such terrible paint issues, that they’ll basically warranty anything regarding paint nowadays, so I’m good!
When I sold cars, I upsold a ton of people on the aftermarket rust coating (insert Fargo joke here) and the damn stuff worked. We’d get 10 year old Sierras that had totally blown out cab corners and bed sides. The trucks with the rust protection looked brand new. Th e shit works. At least in MN it does.
Also, any vehicle that has scratches down to the metal is going to look like trash within 2 years here.

Waiting in line at a bank, yes. Then I can zone out and post stuff on Oppo instead of focusing on keeping my foot on the brake. It’s a company verhield so it gets like no maintenance.

Pilots say: Never fly an “A” model of anything. The first Bronco is definitely an “ A” model. Waiting for the price to come down, used Broncos to appear, and bugs to ironed out is not a bad thing.
