Cleaned the chain, adjusted suspension for a heavier load, threw on the side cases , and rode out to one of my favorite campsites yesterday after work. First moto-camping trip was a great success! O ne case was full of food/beer, the other held everything else.
Oh, and I *may* have tried playing around a bit off-road. Did not have much grip on the big sharp rocks that made up the "road" and the weight of the bike made itself veeeeerry known lol. Now I want a little dirt bike to mess around on. But also a supermoto. And mid-size adv? Monster, of course. And can't forget the 6th Gen VFR! Maybe a grom too. Hayabusa? More scooters?! Brutale oro?!!!

It can be done...

Impressive! I'm going to try finding something that's more dirt and less rocks next time

Very nice! You make me very disappointed in myself as I haven’t ridden my bike in a month. I have to take it out now.

A KLR would fill a lot of those categories.

Nice! I am very determined that I’ll be buying a bigger bike in the spring. I’m quite town between a sport tourer, an ADV, or just a bigger enduro.
I’m thinking the best solution would be to keep my little enduro for riding around town, and off road. And getting a sport tourer for longer trips. Honda ST1100 or 1300 is on the top of that list for a variety of reasons but I wouldn’t mond a bright red BMW like this one
I also reeeally want a Vmax 1200... you can buy side cases for them.

I understand your desire for moar bikes.
I think motorcycles are like ice cream. Once you try some you find you like it, and then you realize it comes in a bunch of favors. So you want to try ALLL THE A FLAVORS.

There are too many options. I went back and forth quite a bit before picking up the Honda. I was almost positive I’d end up with a big naked bike, but here I am with a sports-touring bike!
I like the st1300 but I don’t think I’d want anything bigger/heavier than what I have now.
What about an old gold wing? Those things are so rad, and seem like absolute bargains

I think an old gold wing would be too big. My wife will never ride on the back so I’m not censored with passenger comfort. I do however like the idea of the lower seat height you get with most cruisers. The Suzuki GS1100L I rode a few weeks ago felt great in corners because of that. Plus my enduro sits up high so id like something in the opposite end of the spectrum.

But a V-Strom 1000 would do them faster.

If I had $100M; I’d have all the bikes.
This year really sucks because all the demo days have been cancelled. I really wanted to bomb a bunch of different bikes this year. Last year I did a S1000R and a 790 Duke and it’s interesting how different
they feel.

You’re gonna be real sad if you crack a fairing. They are hard to come by nowadays.
I once went too far down a hard-packed gravel road that became a legit dirt road in my VFR. Never again. I’m an okay off road rider but 500 pounds+clip ons is a bad idea.
Dirt bike is the right idea. Right tool for the job.

Yes I am. If I see fairings for sale at a reasonable price I might just hoard them away just in case .....
Wait, do you still have the 6th Gen? I've lost track of your garage.

All of the Seattle area’s Ducati dealerships went under pre-covid, which ended my weekly pleasure rides. I’ve been wanting to try ktm’s little 390 ADV, and maybe swing a leg over another MT09...
Are you looking to move up from the Honda?

LOL
I sold it last year. I kept finding myself at the entrance to a dirt road and thought I’d try a KLR650. I’d always liked them and I found one that was the least ugly version they sold, IMO. It also already had a lot of the bits I would have immediately bought. I still proceeded to change a ton of stuff.
I’m too cheap to buy a fancy ADV bike and I wanted something I wouldn’t care about. Then I kept getting it into places I shouldn’t. Then I came full circle back to a dirt bike.
The garage was pretty sweet for a while.
I sold the KLR a few months ago. I decided to mitigate risks in my life after getting hurt at work.
