Y’all know I’m Oppo’s resident Golden Girls aficionado.

Well, the house used for exterior shots of the house they lived in is for sale! The show took place in Miami and was filmed in Hollywood , but the house used for their home is at 245 N. Saltair Avenue in Los Angeles.

Season 1 used actual photos of the house. Seasons 2 through 7 used a facade replica of the house built at Walt Disney World. It was demolished in 2003.

The interior looks nothing like the set they used, but it’s still pretty cool. I’d imagine the current owners are selling because they’re tired of the tourists posing in front of it for photographs.

Have a photo of me in my custom Golden Girls mask from Redbubble . It gets quite a few looks when I’m in the grocery store.

That show has a hardcore following, doesn’t it?  My SIL is a huge fan, as is her aunt.

That’s a pretty penny, but the history and location are up there. I’m always amused how TV/movie filming location residents are annoyed by gawkers - they knew it when they bought the house. I wouldn’t be put off at all, so long as sightseers weren’t peeking in the windows etc - pose in front of the house all you want.

The house appears pretty well preserved, but I suspect many of the interior finishes were natural wood when new.  Heathens love to paint over that.

I took this pic of the house several years ago, the colors and foliage then were closer to how it appears in the TV show images:

Even in the Eff’d Up California real estate market... that’s a lotta pesetas.

Yes!

My main obsession with it stems from its odd ability to calm me during anxiety attacks. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and watching this show is one of the very few things that helps me chill out.

I’d build a dedicated posing spot complete with signage and a bench just so people wouldn’t keep trudging onto the lawn.

A bench wouldn’t be a bad idea, maybe some kind of short wall and signage, too .  Enough so people can get a pic, enough to keep the nuts at bay.  I know the prior owners of the Brady Bunch house and current owners of the Home Alone house had to put up walls to keep the over-excited away from the windows.

That’s great that it helps.  The show had some really great actresses in it, though I didn’t watch it much.
