WHY MUST YOU PUNISH US FOR WANTING A MANUAL!!!!????

Just for that, I will NOT be buying one as soon as they go on sale!*

I mean, otherwise, I think it’s cool. But I think I’ll just wait a few years until they depreciate a bit and V8 conversions exist so I can HAVE MY FREAKING MANUAL AND ALL THE HORSEPOWERS TOO.

Of course, by then the “Angry Jeep” affliction will undoubtedly have spread to Broncos...

Also, the grille needs to be painted white. It just does.

*haha, I have no money... sigh.

Probably has to do with the 400 lb-ft for torque the 2.7L puts out.

Probably the same reason the Wrangler Ecodiesel doesn’t offer a manual either, too much torque.

The T6 platform had to be heavily modified to handle the 2.7L, there is no way V8 is going in there.

The 2.3L Ecoboost is no slouch. It produces 310 hp and 325 lbs feet with the stock tune. The Ranger with the $800 factory tune has 355 lb-ft of torque, I’m sure they will offer the factory tune with warranty on the Bronco as well.

I mean the Wrangler forever has done fine with 290 hp and 256 lb-ft of torque.  The Bronco with the base motor easily outpowers it, by a lot, and you still can have the 7-speed manual with that.

To be honest I prefer wheeling in an auto. Towing too, just less wear and tear and burning clutch smell.

It still feels kinda lazy since this transmission is a brand new design built for the Bronco. Why couldn’t they have designed it to handle more torque? And  beyond that, limiting the heated seats to only the automatic version is stupid and annoying as well. I miss the days when you could option your car however you wanted and didn’t have to deal with stupid “options packages”.

I hope you realize what that 2.3l  can do with a tune. Ford Performance offers a tune for the Ranger that brings it to 310 hp, and that’s pretty mild.

I suppose that’s true... That’s what I’ll tell myself if I someday buy one.

That makes sense, but there is probably design limitations and cost factors that didn’t make it financially feasible.

I’m sure they would have loved to offer that 7-speed with the 2.7L, but something made it too expensive to make happen.

I would order my the base model 2-door with Sasquatch package (35" tires, beadlock ready wheels, Bilstein long travel shocks with reservoirs, etc.), the 2.3L & 7-speed manual.

Would make the perfect off-roader at probably a reasonably price, I mean after the dealership price gouging of course.

At 355 ft-lbs of torque.

Plus, another person pointed out that Ford offers a tune for the 2.3L engine that bumps power to 310 hp, so that makes things a bit better. 310 hp ought to be plenty.

Sure, the $800 factory backed tune on the Ranger. What’s even more impressive is the 355 ft-lbs of torque of that tune, which is almost 100 ft-lbs more than Wrangler’s V6.

Though I have to wonder if Ford will allow that tune factory backed in the manual Bronco.

I’m sure you can get the tune, just not with a warranty :)

“ But I think I’ll just wait a few years until they depreciate a bit”

Don’t expect much depreciation.

See: used Wrangler prices.

That’s why I said “a bit”. These will definitely be desirable for quite a while.

Im calling your bluff on this. You will not have a v8 manual new Bronco in a few years. Someone will though.

The smart money buys these new, instead of saving a few grand by letting someone else do who knows what and how little maintenance for tend of thousands of miles.

But depreciation... and dealerships... and buying brand new cars goes against my nature...

Eh, m y T-bird eats all the car money I have so it’s all hypothetical anyways :p

There are exceptions to those rules. Depreciation is so low on Wranglers and Tacomas that only fools buy them late model used. I suspect the Bronco will behave the same way.

Pickup trucks in general can be a dubious purchase used, because they hold their value so well. There's a lot of variables there.
