I think I might have to sleep downstairs on the pullout couch. Tomorrow I’m going to drag the swamp cooler out of the garage and see if it helps more than my apparently broken a/c unit.

It got like this in California in the summer. I hated it, but we had center Alonzo heat and air.

I’ll send pictures from my viewpoint like that tomorrow to send cooling thoughts.

When I was a kid and the a/c was out , I would sleep on a pallet on the floor with a box fan at my head. A sheet draped over the edges of the fan and clipped in place made a makeshift wind tunnel over the pallet which would keep me cool. Nowadays they call it a fan fort or an air fort.

guessing you wouldnt even need the AC at night at whatever altitude that cabin was.

I’m going to write a strongly worded letter to Gov. Polis. The temperature is too damn high.
My favorite part of today was loading 3000 lbs of equipment into my van by myself, and then also unloading it by myself, all in this heat. Also, trying to coax my van up Vail Pass loaded like that was a real treat.

We usually only suffer for about a week, thankfully . My downstairs unit tripped a circuit breaker when I was gone and I think the upstairs one might’ve fried itself trying to keep up. It’ll drop into the 60s tonight so if I get the swamp cooler running early enough maybe it’ll be better tomorrow!

Plus side, if the dog and I are already downstairs, she won’t wake me up to carry her down at 3 am for a sip of water.

That was one of the things I hated living in Denver- the asphalt heat sink radiating back out.

Oh god. Yeah, I was looking at some dealerships in weather this hot back east and it was miserable. Also, sweat ing into a mask outside in the summer is making my face look like I’m 13 again.

Well that's a beautiful view, but sorry for the heat. It's gotten hot here too and my AC isn't quite keeping up either, hope it breaks for you.

W earing the mask outside in the heat doesn’t fog up my glasses as much, so I’m not as cranky as I could be. But I was in Grand Junction earlier and I remember now why I hated living there in the late 80 s so much. It gets so hot there in summer.

No joke wearing a mask on a 12 hour shift is fucking up the pores on my nose.

I guess at least it also hides the damage? But yikes.

The thermostat on mine seems to have broken while in storage. I’m either getting ambient temp (but drier) or the compressor is on max all the time. Dammit.

I bet you’re getting a mask tan too

That's no bueno. I hope the A/C gods find mercy upon you.

If it’s a hardwired system, check the breaker didn’t trip
