I would be in the market for that SSD, but then I’m not sure about putting a WD Black in my laptop would cause heat issues.

Debating whether I want to upgrade my laptop to 16/512 from 8/256, given how prices are coming back down and RAM is actually cheap again now.

eh the newer NVMes don’t run as hot as the older ones... heat isn’t an issue. I have an SN720 in my laptop and the temps are good

Well on the flipside an SN550 or A2000 would be more than enough on what I use. Heck I didn’t find much difference in the 970 Evo I put in.
