My brother is visiting me this week (after not leaving anywhere for 14 days, don’t worry) and informed me one of his co-workers recently rented a Buick Roadmaster to go camping. So naturally, I had to go look it up.
The fact someone is parking/renting a Roadmaster in D.C makes me laugh. That thing has to be terrible to street park. Yet so good at a mere $39/day.
If it’s available next time I’m down there might have to give it a go - it just seems like an experience.

Turo has an age limit, or so I thought. Do they have an exception for classics? Rockin’ if so.

That’s what I thought. I guess if it’s a specialty vehicle (which this is?) you can. Interesting

I might rent this one day just for LULZ.

It would be fun for the price I think

“Specialty” or “classic” cars must:
Be model year 1990 or older (special considerations for 1991-2006)
Have a fair market value of up to $85,000
Be in excellent mechanical and physical condition. They must have all seat belts in safe, working condition
Be subject to additional review

On one hand I can’t believe we’ve reached the place where a big old American stationwagon is a “specialty vehicle.”
On the other hand, I'd like to have a go at it.

I miss my Roadmaster so much. They're really not that hard to park. Visibility is fabulous. My perspective may be warped however, from daily driving a full size crew cab pickup for 14 years now.

Age limit is up to owners discretion. Ive rented from turo when I was 20, Durango RT and Mustang GT. Its the only way a person under 25 can rent a V8

Vehicle age, sorry.

That thing is in excellent shape!
I love Turo so much. It’s such a fantastic idea that I wonder how come it took so long for an app like that to get so big.
I rented a Crown Vic when I was in New York for a few days. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life, I had SO much fun with that. Much better than renting a boring corolla or whatever.

Besides the length, there’s plenty of worse vehicles to park, lots of glass on the Roadmaster. We used to get Challenger without backup camera’s at Enterprise and I did not like backing up those.

I personally haven’t rented anything on Turo yet but I’ve been wanting to. Some cities have some really unique stuff or heck I’d love to drive a Model 3 for a day.
Crown Vic sounds like a fun choice, glad you enjoyed it

That would be tough.

I’m currently on the hunt for one of these. I am considering selling my Caprice Wagon (anyone looking???) and El Camino and making this the replacement. 2"drop, headers, cut-outs and a tint and you have a nice combo of power, fun, nostalgia and comfort. Plus a place to stay if everything goes south.

LOL this is what happens when youre scrolling oppo at midnight, reading now makes more sense.
And I’m amazed anyone is willing to rent out a “classic” to people who may know nothing about old cars
