The flightline at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , Kabul, Afghanistan. Built in the early 1960s by Soviet Engineers as Kabul International Airport, the airport changed hands many times over the following five decades of war and revolution. A massive $ 35 million terminal was built starting in 2008, funded partially by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. KBL was renamed for the former Afghan president in 2014.
The single 11,520 foot runway serves passenger and cargo aircraft, as well as the Afghan military. KBL serves as a hub for Ariana Afghan Airlines as well as Kam Air, and is served by flydubai, Emirates and Air India, amongst others.

It’s interesting to see big birds being serviced by air stairs. The last time I used one was to board a regional jet that was only a few steps away from the terminal. They even had a covered walkway so you weren’t in the elements.
