Kinja'd!!!

I’ve been waiting all day for a couple of packages that USPS said were out for delivery today, and allegedly had been since 7:10am; i t’s almost 9:15pm and I don’t think they’re coming today.  It’s the first day after a holiday so I’m not surprised; we had the same problem in public transportation. I’m glad I didn’t stay home and wait for them; due to porch pirates I prefer to be here when the packages come in.

Next rant? Slooooooow eBay sellers. I won an auction on the 27th, paid within seconds, but the shipper didn’t have the item picked up until today. C’mon...

During Covid, I have abandoned reasonable expectations of most shipping things. Amazon canceled two of my orders after purchases and listed as in stock because they were, oops, actually out of stock.

Conversely, I’ve bought three things from RockAuto and each has come a business day or two sooner than promised.

Ebay has never been stellar for me, but our growing economic collapse has limited my shopping abilities ... Woohoo

Maybe this will soften your feelings about them

I have that episode on my DVR and haven’t watched it yet so I really can’t comment. I know times are tough, but all I want are realistic expectations. If it’s going to take extra time I’m fine with that, but don’t say one thing and then don’t follow through.

I’m going to need some parts soon, and given the positive comments I keep hearing about them I think I'll order from Rock Auto. I used to buy my parts via Amazon, but they've become less than reliable since COVID hit and I haven't purchased anything from them since February, even if they did have the best price. I also don't like how they treat their workers, so I feel even better about not giving them a dime. I thought that Amazon was supposed to be the model of how an internet business should be run, but they seem to be falling apart in the last few months, and TBH I don't really mind...

I’ve actually been experiencing the opposite. They’re giving me very conservative ETA’s and showing up before that, in the amount of time you’d normally expect.

The only weirdness I’ve encountered is tracking not getting updated. They’ll sit at “departed origin facility” for two to three days then suddenly jump straight to “out for delivery”

I n my recent experience, small parts and packages from China will reliably arrive in less than 12 days to East-coast US of A cities , whereas Ebay from <1000 miles away in the US will not. Amazon is rock steady (I live outside a major south-east city with a huge Amazon distribution artifact) ever since they stopped using 3rd party low tier off brand non-name delivery services in my area. It’s all Amazon branded vehicles, USPS doing Amazon delivery on weekends or UPS (they only seem to get the heavy loads... sorry ) and they hit their check-out promises: 1 day, 2 day, occasionally 4 days or 7 days. Only once this year have I had them come back with a “sorry, out of stock” delay. You may want to consider relocating if reliability is your jam, because I don’t think USPS is overly concerned about consumer satisfaction .

YMMV.

I haven’t gotten a single UPS package (more than 10 attempts) on time in over 2 months.

In fact, they took so long to deliver one package that they actually lost it. How someone looses a box of Miata sideskirts is beyond me.

“ Package could not be located for intercept.” is probably the deepest sinking feeling in the world next to someone or a pet getting bad health news.

Kinja'd!!!

Unfortunately, this has also put RSpeed in kind of a bad light too. They shipped my order spread over 4 boxes but aren’t sure what was in which box. The final box shipped before UPS lost the order, so now I have to wait until I find out what’s in the final box, which is also running late, to figure out what goes into the claim.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m actually up against the clock now. UPS only permits claims withing 60 days of shipping date.

Kinja'd!!!

On top of all this, UPS support is non-existent. When I called their phone number, it told me to f-off because of coronavirus. No human to talk to. Email response from support is averaging a 36 hour response time.

I’ve been lucky, with only one package gone wayward since March. Somehow USPS lost a 35lbs bag of dog food going from Phoenix to Las Cruces. Amazon did finally send another bag two weeks later after I pointed out over customer service chat that I could’ve walked to Phoenix and carried it back in that time.

USPS is shockingly awful. I'm thinking of in the future, looking at courier services to post to the U.S.

Normally they’re not too bad, but Dear Leader has made a challenging operation doomed to failure for whatever petty gripe he saw mentioned  on Fox “news”.

In my area UPS are pretty terrible. USPS, may be a bit slower, but stuff arrives.

https://oppositelock.kinja.com/what-can-i-do-for-you-1753094939

list would be

1 Fedex

2 USPS

3 UPS

4 Amazon delivery services.

Each time I sent a parcel to the U.S., it’s taken ages. One parcel in Fresno went back and forward for seven or eight days between a sorting depot and a delivery depot.

Two parcels sent on the same day at the same location, going to the same place, one made it, the other has been in Chicago since the 6th of June.

One parcel was a few days late, then when it went out, it was returned to the depot as, address not found, yet the next day, they found the address.

Even parcels to New York, it takes two days to get from my location, down to London, put on a plane and land in New York, then spends six days at the sorting location to do the final few miles journey.

It's infuriating.

I may use FedEx or DHL next time. Because I've had really shoddy service from USPS.

Middle of summer it is odd, but Black Friday-Christmas timeframe, my USPS would deliver stuff at like 10pm. With no knock or doorbell.

I was watching The Walking Dead with my wife at like 9-10pm. Like this tracking number says it is still out for delivery today. We watch the episode, it ends I look at our Nest camera bam the Amazon box is sitting on the porch.
