Needed to scratch the automotive aggression itch before I do something silly on a public road. SCCA finally reopened nearby so I bought some new vynal numbers (old magnetic ones from my miata don’t stick to aluminum), dusted off the helmet and headed out for the first go in the RS.
If I’m being honest the miata was more fun for cone chasing. The track was really tight so as soon as the 5cly got on boost I had to immediately jump back on the brake. OE tires are also not spectacular. Always fighting heat issues and being generally numb and greasy.
Then of course it’s in super street so it gets PAXd to the moon. Needless to say all I really got was a sunburn, because holy shit it was boiling hot and cloudless all day.
On the plus side the course was in the bowl of a speedway so the engine noise was fantastic. It was nice to be out of the house doing something somewhat normal again. And I had enough fun to make it worth the trouble.
As soon as this pandemic let’s up I have to get new tires and head to Watkins Glen. So there’s that to look forward to.

That is a good looking car. Sounds fun. Vinyl stickers are cool too
