God damn that’s nice Z31. If I were in America this would sorely tempt me, especially at the price. I’m not a fan of the louvers and I’m not sure if they’re factory, but the rest of it is to die for. Non turbo but with the hugely desirable digital dash.

Just quietly are we calling this
degslist,
like how craiglist is pronounced
cregslist
by those in the know?

Up un til this point I’ve been calling it Cars and Bids. Not sure why.....
Zone De Demuro has a nice ring to it.

Dregslist...
Bless him for monetizing his 15 minutes of fame, I guess.
I’m guessing he doesn’t have time to come to my garage to curate and detail my car like the BAT guys, huh?

I love the louvers

I actually think this is him trying to launch something long-lasting, since none of us know how long a Youtube career can last.
Except Mighty Car Mods who have been at it for 13 years.
Haha I didn’t know that about BaT
. None of these sites exist in Aus

Cars and Bids? That’s a weird name ;)

I thought of it all by myself!

I always find clean Z31's for sale, they aren’t rare, hence the price they command. They’re also uneventful, even though they’re one of the best looking Nissans from the 80's...

For some reason I just don’t get them. They seem completely pointless to me, like vinyl roofs or fake vents.
I love 80s and I owned a (louverless) Z31 a few years ago. But I don’t get it!

Louvers are fantastic on cars with long sloping rear glass. You get to keep a decent rear view while blocking the sunlight.

For $5900 the price seems fair. I wouldn’t pay any more tho.

I’m definitely kidding about the “detail your car” thing, but BAT certain ly gets premium prices because of the PERCEPTION that there’s better screening and curation of every listing. As they ‘chase volume’ I’m not sure how they can do that...
I hear BAT “batted around” (sorry, couldn’t resist) a lot as the benchmark on values, but the reality is that they generally are able to command premium prices relative to an equivalent “dealer-prepped, certified, guaranteed condition” model from a place with factory-trained techs . I don’t know how that’s justified. It makes no sense.
So, when I hear “ Oh, a late 70s 911 is worth $80K” because a one-off brought that on BAT, it’s hard to reconcile that to the reality that I can buy them all day long in LA, in great condition, for under $40K.
There’s retail ‘transaction based’ pricing... then there’s BAT pricing.

That’s interesting. I suppose it means BaT are doing very well. If you’re running an auction site and people perceive that cars on there are nicer and sell for more than everywhere else, sellers will flock to it and boom. Success.
Interesting

Hard to price a car like this. A survivor from the 80s is going to get harder to find.

They’re certainly rare enough in Aus! The Z31 wasn’t loved like some other cars, I thought they’d all been beat to shit

Ah yes. the Z sold in huge numbers. People prefer the Supra/RX/NSX/Whatever because they’re more suited to kids on the internet. The Z was suited to its target market, buyers loved it. It won’t help resale values 30 years later but it did what it was designed to do at the time.
