Ok that was
clickbait, not dead. #drama.
It just peed all the coolant out. Pushed it to my work parking spot.
It’ll be fine I think.
Not sure where exactly it came out. Dripping was from the dead center middle of the engine, so I don’t think it was the water pump (except if it dripped down from it, to the bottom of the pan), and it def wasn’t the radiator, the dripping was further back. I don’t think it was the AC either, the internet says that the driver’s footwell would leak too, but it’s dry from the inside.
Not sure, I’ll have to jack up the car and see in more detail, no point in guessing.
Now I just have to figure out how to transport the jack and jackstands on a longboard.

any quick, off the top of your head guesses for this?

Lower radiator hose? Heater core connections at the fire wall? I’m not too familiar with the NA engine.
Good luck!

Cool, thanks! That’ll at least get me started on where to look.

I seem to recall that the heater lines are at the passenger side/middle of the firewall. And I think they go from hard lines to a hose which passes through the firewall via a coupler. Maybe one of those let go?
Wish I could help more.

There’s a hole in the cooling system that shouldn’t be there .
You’re welcome!

Ah! Problem solved then.

I was going to say coolant line to the turbo, but someone just said it was NA so... Good luck! I hope the Volvo rides again soon!

I think you might be on to something - from everything I’ve seen the turbo and NA engines are very, very similar, minus the turbo specific piping.

So the only coolant lines should be the heater in and out and radiator in and out. The turbos have a turbo coolant line as well.

I don’t know this engine but on my A3 i had a similar issue, used the car without an issue for 20 minutes then i tried to start it again 10 minutes later and had a low coolant warning and... the water broke !
It was a coolant hose coming out of the block that has oil from the head cover gasket dripping on it and destroying the rubber, i cut the damaged section and put it back and has no issues since (it was about 2 years ago).
A common failure could also be the thermostat housing (coincidentally i just changed mine on my A4 yesterday, it wa sn’ t leaking but the plastic inside got brittle and had broken in two places making the thermostat always open and the rubber gasket wasn’t is great shape either).

Ok thank you for the tips, I’m adding these to my list of stuff to check.
