The 48V mild hybrid systems aren't really anything. It impacts mpg, but to such a minor amount, and with no all-electric range, it's going to be very short lived.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that my next DD will more than likely not be an auto.

Mild? Where do they make these, New York City?
I’ll wait for the hot version. Actually, make that fire. No, scratch that - diablo!

Disagree. A 3% reduction of CO2 emissions in real-world testing is huge.
I don’t really know what the benefit of this particular setup is. Electronic “linkage” for the clutch just seems like a DCT with a toy on the center console.

$5 says it doesn't come to the US.

...so an SMG?

Also disagree in another way. The electric boost from standing starts will aid acceleration not for performence but but economy and city mpg will be enormously affected.

Fuck that trash.

Not nearly as much of a punishment as it once was. I enjoy my DSG, and obviously PDK has it’s followers.

Right which is why I’ve come to terms with it.

Wasn’t the Honda CRZ s’posed to be the savior of the manuel electrified future? At least u ntil it got discontinued because nobody bought them.

I sincerely look forward to serving the One World Government based in Seoul.

I would wonder how it is to drive, but I like the concept. I wish more companies did things like the CRZ - I test drove one and liked it, it was just sooo small.

So it will or won’t be automatic?

It won’t be an SMG

3% for adding a hybrid system to a turbodiesel. If you look at the cost if the entire system, a PHEV gasser is going to cost less, and return better real world ememissions for anyone with a place to plug in at home.
That’s a focus group drivetrain.

It’ll be interesting to see how many are bought. A mild hybrid turbodiesel with an electronically controlled H-pattern manual transmission sounds like a bunch of engineers were bored and had nothing better to do more than a focus group concept.

A manual without a mechanical connection? What’s the point?
No different than pressing a button (or pulling a paddle).
