Triple the rate of the 1060. Once I find a beater box to host the 1060, I can come real close to 2M PPD.

Those are some serious numbers, glad to see the new card is working out!

What did you do about powe r delivery , the 6- pin to 8-pin adapter worked  okay?

I can hear a bit more windage happening inside the box. I had to modify the case though. There was a bracket on the inside that pressed against the old GPU to help hold it in place and with the new “micro” GPU, which is shorter but also wider, the case would not close. So I drilled out the pinpoint welds holding the bracket in place and removed it.

A pair of six-to-eights. There’s a noticeable increase in fan noise inside the case. Not drastic, but noticeable. I feel a little sheepish about how much I feel caught up in this.

It’ll probably be noisier and put out some more heat. I’d make sure to check afterburner for card temp. I find when folding I like to set the fans to a constant higher speed instead of letting it ramp up and down so the card stays consistently cooler and the noise stays the same so you get used to it .

Good deal. The 1080ti will certainly create much more waste heat and your PSU will need to work harder to keep itself cool. The CPU cooler will likely be running a little harder too since the ambient case temp will be higher because the GPU is creating more heat. It’s a vicious cycle.

Also nice work modding the prebuilt case!

I’m not sure if it translates to the Ti, but I’ve seen sustained 20-30% increase in PPD on Linux for my 1080 over windows. (the Tis seem to be able to do 1.2-1.8m happily depending on WU)

Thanks. Simply leaving the side panel off helps things to stay noticeably cooler inside. I’m going to install 12 0 mm fan on the back of the case on the outside sucking out. And then cut a couple of vent holes in the side panel. Now all of the fans that provide air to the GPU that are installed in the case are pushing air in from the front but the only exit is out the back and there’s no exhaust fan.

How much wattage am I allowed to pull from a USB port?

A standard usb port only pumps out a few watts of juice but they’re capable of more than that.  Some ports can charge at 18 watts, higher than that and you have to look at USB-C and that can go pretty high, 65W is doable there.

I downloaded Afterburner. Leaving the side panel off the case lowers the temp by 10 degrees C.
