New wheels and tires on, new high pressure power steering line installed (was a fun DIY project), and all racked and wired up.
Wheels are period correct American Racing wheels that are in immaculate shape. Literally just a couple scratches.
The power steering line put up a big fight. But it was so rusty it was easy to break it apart.
We ultimately cut the remainder off using a steak knife then removed the rest with a breaker bar.
And yes, I said we! It was my girlfriend’s idea to use the steak knife and she made short work of the old power steering line. We made a great team fixing the truck . I literally couldn’t have done this without her! No doubt now she’s definitely a Gambler. <3
To go we will do our Communist theming (with Plasti-Dip because the paint is too good to destroy) and a set of front bearings that should be pretty easy to DIY. When we return from the OG I think I’ll even fix the few rust spots it does have . I’ve invested blood, sweat, and a lot of money into the truck so I think this may be the one I keep for a while.
Other than that, the truck drives well, drives straight, and now doesn’t leak anything at all!

Is the steak knife part of the overlapping kitchen/automotive genre that Tracy pioneered?

Heh. Yeah, that “I rebuilt my transmission in the same prep area where I mix my Caesar Salads” post was a modern turning point in auto-neurotic journalism...

She's never read a DT article before but I will say I now have a couple kitchen utensils in my tool bag. xD
