Found out about this today and it seems to be well-respected . I really need to pick this up and force my way through it; my Jeep needs soooo much electrical work.

How old is your Jeep? Is the electrical system bad because Fiat Chrysler, or did you go swimming?

It’s an 05, so Fiat can’t be held responsible.

It’s a combination of wear, tear, and utterly  incompetent aftermarket work, only a little of which is mine.

Been there, done that. Sure, it was in 1984 but I’m sure I’m all up to speed. Basic Electricity and Electronics ( or Bee double Ee in Navy speak) was the first school you went through before your rate’s “A” school if you dealt with anything electrical.  Like I went through before Electronics Technician school.

How about electrical training courtesy of the Italians?

It is remarkably complete.

I’m glad to see they still have training on vacuum tubes. I wonder how many are still in use by the Navy somewhere.

Once you master that , the rest is a simple matter of deduction .

The equipment that I mainly  worked on had tubes because they were radio transmitters. There weren’t 40kW solid state amplifiers. Radars also used a specialized kind of tube. Whether they still use that stuff I have no idea.

Was a small airline that I worked around, as in i flew a plane that was kept in their hangars, and by proximity i got to know several of the folks. One story of a past interview went like this:

Q:”can you tell us, what is electricity?”

without a pause, A:”movement of electrons throughaconductivematerial?”

A:”when can you start?”

Its so different now. We have liberal electrons and conservative protons. And those lying neutrons. It’s a whole different world.
